1 Job Description Position Details Faculty/Directorate School/Department Team Job Title Professional Services Strategic Planning Office Strategic Planning & Partnerships Faculty Planning Officer Vacancy No & 0811 Grade 6 Hours of Work Full time Contract Duration (Perm/Fixed Term) Permanent & Fixed-term Reports To (Job Title) Director of Faculty Planning and Operations Responsible For (Job Title) N/a Principal Accountabilities Working as part of the newly established Faculty Planning and Strategic Support teams, the postholder will provide data analysis and planning support for the Faculty's strategic planning processes and strategic priorities. Key tasks will include support for the development and monitoring of the Faculty's strategic plans, analysis of Faculty and Departmental performance against Key Performance Targets, and operational support for processes such as the student number planning process and Workload Allocation. Key Tasks Strategic Planning, Data Management and Project Work Work closely with the Faculty Director of Planning and Operations, to provide support for the development and monitoring of Faculty and Departmental strategic plans. Provide support for the Faculty's student number planning process, providing advice and guidance as Faculty and Departments develop student number targets across the range of activity.

2 Monitor Facuty, Department and programme student enrolment against target and liaise with key administrators and academic staff to ensure accuracy of enrolment data. Provide statistical reports, data and other information as required by external subject specific funding and accrediatation bodies. Undertake analysis and produce reports, as appropriate, of Faculty and Departmental performance against the University's Key Performance and Lead indicators, providing insight on progress and issues, particularly at programme level. Undertake external benchmark analysis of Faculty and Departmental performance using HSA data, league tables, TF data etc. Support the Faculty's portfolio development processes, including Strategic Approval process, through the provision of Market Insight analysis and data. Analyse, understand and monitor performance at programme level in order to support ducation Annual Review and other quality processes. Provide bespoke analyses of Faculty and Departmental performance, as required, to inform Faculty/Departmental strategy development and decision-making. Strategic Support Provide administrative and operational support for strategic Faculty projects, as required. Support the submission of institutional statutory returns, through checking of data, provision of information and liaison with other colleagues, as required. Provide operational support, as required, for the implementation of the Faculty's Workload Allocation Model. Contribute to the writing of project plans, proposals, reports and summaries for Faculty strategic inititaives. Act as a key contact for information, liaising with all sections of the Faculty, central Professional Services and external organisations, as appropriate, providing advice and guidance. Team working Work collaboratively as a member of the Faculty Planning and Strategic Support team, promoting a team approach and culture of professionalism. Work collaboratively as a member of the wider Strategic Planning Office, liaising with colleagues in other Faculties and the central team to facilitate cross-team working and the wider development of the SPO function within Professional Services. Contribute and support a range of change and development projects that support the delivery of Professional Services, Faculty and University objectives. Special Features

3 Owing to the particular responsibilities of the post, there will be some times of the year when it will either not be possible for the post holder to take annual leave, or be necessary to limit the amount of annual leave that can be taken. Some evening and weekend working will be required, as appropriate. The postholder will be expected to work flexibly to provide cover for and/or work in collaboration with colleagues across Student and Academic Services. Miscellaneous You will ensure that appropriate management systems and procedures are in place to meet your health and safety duties and responsibilities contained within the University s health and safety policy. In particular, you will ensure that appropriate risk assessments are carried out in respect of significant hazards and that safety inspections are undertaken on at least an annual cycle in each workplace under your control. You are responsible for applying the University s quality and Diversity Policy in your own area of responsibility and in your general conduct. You have a responsibility to promote high levels of customer care within your own areas of work. You are expected to co-operate with the PDR process, engaging in the setting of objectives in order to assist in the monitoring of performance and the development of the individual. You will assess the training and development needs of each member of staff under your control to ensure they are adequately supported in relation to their work responsibilities. Such other relevant duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be assigned by the Manager in agreement with you. Such agreement should not be unreasonably withheld. You may be required to undertake a specific Health & Safety role, commensurate with your grade, to support the University in meeting its statutory Health & Safety obligations. This could include acting as a DS Assessor, First Aider, Fire Marshall or Departmental Safety Co-ordinator. The allocation of such roles will be subject to the provision of appropriate training and assessment of competence. You may with reasonable notice, be required to work at any of the Manchester Metropolitan University sites. You are responsible for assessing and managing risk for all elements of work within your own area/team and for ensuring effective risk management processes are in place. Proficiency in working with standard office IT applications and the ability to integrate and manipulate different datasets to provide consolidated planning information. 3 ducation & Training 3.1 A first degree or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience, showing clear evidence of literacy and numeracy.
