Our people at their best Level 1 Location Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne Airport Department Ground Operations - Airports Division Ground Operations Group Operations Direct Reports Nil Reports to Airport Operations Manager Manager Once Removed Airport Manager Created 10/09/2015 Updated 21/04/2016 Role Summary Role purpose As part of the airport resource management team, the Forward Planning Analyst will be responsible for supporting best productivity and operational effectiveness for Ground Operations through: the development, implementation and refinement of resource management processes/standards to drive a cost effective resource plan and day of operation that meet outcomes for safety, service delivery, on time performance and optimal productivity individually and collaboratively (with other divisions) reviewing expenditure and identifying areas for business and productivity improvement in line with Airport strategy creating and driving initiatives to improve productivity, undertaking the required analysis and working with Airport Leadership to implement these initiatives where appropriate, administering the Resource Management System efficient resource management that contributes to an overall smooth operation, to assist Virgin Australia in becoming and retaining the status of Australia s favourite airline. Forward Planning Analysis Accountability for maintaining and modifying (where appropriate) entire Ground Crew roster from point of roster publish to 24 hours prior to day of operation, with the exception of shift swaps Alignment between rostered and worked hours, with any variances fully explained and efforts made to reduce the variance for future roster periods Worked hours within airport budget and any exceptions fully explained Using data to refine/adjust published rosters to account for operational changes post-roster publish, such as changes to forecast passenger/baggage/freight loads, schedule changes, and weather to ensure sufficient resources are assigned to cover the operation. Provide complex what if analysis to support cost efficiency and strategic resource management initiatives Provide feedback to Airport Leadership and Network Operations to improve accuracy of resource planning assumptions and budget forecast to generate increased alignment between planned and actual hours worked Use of available tools to inform decisionmaking recommendations Actioning of shift swaps, shift giveaways, annual leave, and available to work requests in accordance with applicable policies Administer unplanned absences and allowances in accordance with EBA and applicable policies, where outside day of operation window Complete task sheets where required Participate in handovers and hand back meetings with Network Operations, Resource Planners, Finance, and Airport Leadership when required Provide handover to Day of Operations Planners Contributing to achieving relevant performance targets across KRAs All tasks completed as per agreed timeframes Attend and participate in handover meetings from Resource Planner to Forward Planning Analyst at time of roster publish and hand back feedback to further improve the quality of the rosters Conduct handover meetings with Day of Operations Planners on a daily basis 2. Financial Ensure that any amendments to published rosters are in line with operational requirements and budgetary constraints, as approved by Airport Management Identification of continuous improvement resource initiatives Initiatives accepted as achievable and implementation progressed. 3 Accountability Major activities Key Metrics Support for key business improvement initiatives including scoping deliverables, meeting milestones, completing cost projections and impact assessments and escalating issues where required Process improvements identified to improve roster planning process and budget forecast Produce in-depth reports on What-if scenarios and make recommendations that are based on detailed analysis to aid comparison and evaluation against desired outcomes. Working within budget constraints across a resource period 3. Safety and OTP Deliver handover to Day of Operations team members as per agreed timeframes Implement policies/processes/projects support best service performance and OTP. Actively monitor service performance and OTP and look at areas to troubleshoot barriers Ground Operations Service performance (Net Promoter Score, GST, GEA, Compliments/Complaints) OTP performance (OTP 60%; IATA 90%; Head starts 90%; 35 minute turn performance, etc.) 4. Continuous Improvement and Change Management Maintain intimate understanding of front line operations, resource management and day of operations in the airport environment Identification of improvement opportunities and accurate determination / recommendation of feasibility Conduct analysis on possible business improvement initiatives and provide thorough report to Airport Leadership on viability. Regular consultation with stakeholders to review and recommend policy/procedure amendments that address end user satisfaction issues. Effective and timely process development that is successful when implemented in airports. Quality and timeliness of investigation finding response and/or action closure Continually assess, document, treat and review risks in assigned functional area and modify process/policy to improve and align to best practice Implement processes that will maintain or improve divisional KRA performance Where appropriate, respond to investigation findings and/or actions and assist with implementing corrective and preventative actions Page 03

Skills Highly evolved analytical skills Demonstrated experience analysing complex data to make recommendations to management in support of best practice decision making Advanced expertise in MS Excel and minimum intermediate expertise in MS Word, and PowerPoint Communication Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders through effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate through written communication, including the ability to create compelling business cases/proposals and effective reports that are substantiated with data and analysis Value adding stream mapping & other process mapping writing skills Experience using other statistical analysis tools Experience with Kronos Shift Logic or another workforce management system such as GroundStar or Sabre AirCentre.
