1 Site Team Apprentice Advert for Apprenticeship Vacancies (Av) Vacancy Title Vacancy Short Vacancy Full Site Team Apprentice Join our Site Team to ensure our academy premises meet the needs of our students, staff and visitors, supporting security, maintenance, porterage and cleaning. Earn while you learn with training provided and leading to nationally recognized qualifications. Main Responsibilities / Duties Carrying out caretaking and cleaning duties as part of the site team Assisting in site security Assisting in site maintenance and repair Ensuring the academy complies with Health and safety requirements Site Team To carry out all janitorial duties: - moving of furniture and equipment - setting out for assemblies and other special events - delivery and conveyance of stores, materials and goods (in conjunction with Finance Officer) - preparing the premises for any out of academy activities and clearing up after these activities - liaison with contractors supplying services To undertake any primary cleaning as requested To carry out secondary cleaning when required washing walls, washing diffusers/light fitments, deep clean of toilets, etc. To assist in ensuring adequate supplies of cleaning equipment and materials are available To assist in ensuring that all cleaning equipment is in a safe working condition Carrying out litter/refuse clearance of the academy site to ensure that the buildings and site are kept litter free Ensuring that all drains and gullies are free flowing and clean Security Supervision To assist in the management and operation of site security: - acting as keyholder, if required, and carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds - the routine and non-routine opening and closing of premises and grounds - assisting to provide access to the premises and classrooms in the event of snow or minor flooding or similar emergency situations - attempting to prevent unauthorised access onto the school premises or grounds. (Note: in fulfilling this responsibility all employees are expected to work within established school procedures and the Code of Practice No. 32(S) Managing Violence in Schools) - assisting with monitoring of CCTV system and reporting any defects to Senior Site Manager - monitoring the security of out-buildings - assisting with liaison and supervision of all on site contractors Maintenance To carry out / assist in carrying out routine maintenance and repairs (within competency of postholder) at direction of Senior Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager Testing portable electrical equipment if trained and accredited to do so

2 Carrying out school based procedures in the event of fire, flood, breaking and entering, accident or major damage. To assist in ensuring the provision of adequate supplies of caretaking equipment and materials and notifying Senior Site Manager of any shortfall To assist in ensuring that all equipment is in safe working condition and notifying Senior Site Manager of any deficiencies To carry out daily/weekly checks at direction of Senior Site Manager Health & Safety Ensuring the implementation and compliance with appropriate Codes of Practice throughout the academy (in relation to premises, caretaking and cleaning issues) in liaison with the Senior Site Manager Assisting in monitoring the appropriate (premises, caretaking and cleaning related) Health and Safety procedures in use in the academy and reporting any issues to the Senior Site Manager General To participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager. Weekly wage Working week Future Prospects Contact Name Employer Weekly wage is 122 in line with the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices of 3.30 per hour for apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4pm Friday, with one hour of breaks. There may be opportunities for overtime to be worked during evenings and weekends to accommodate lettings of academy facilities to community users. There may be an opportunity for our Site Apprentice to join our Site Team as a full time Assistant Site Manager following successful completion of this apprenticeship. Mrs Louise Olley, HR Manager About Mark Hall Academy Mark Hall Academy, based in Harlow, West Essex, is an academy sponsored by Academy Transformation Trust. The academy opened on 1 September 2013 and currently has just under 500 pupils on roll through years 7 11.The main school site was built during the 1950 s and was opened by the Queen in More recently, we were one of only seven schools in Essex to be successful in our bid for the Priority Schools Building Programme and we will be notified this term as to the extent of the re-build or refurbishment. We are excited by this investment and the faith placed in our transformation process. Mark Hall Academy has developed a reputation in the two years it has been open for being a very open, friendly and positive academy where staff are ambitious for

3 students to achieve success both academically and in their personal development. The curriculum is supplemented by a range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities that enables all pupils a chance to progress and develop. In two years, our GCSE headline of 5 A*-C with English and maths has risen by over 20%; English alone has doubled its A*-C results to be just below national averages and maths achieve in line with national averages; other subjects are also following this lead and have made significant year on year improvements. At the time of going to print, the Academy has not been inspected and, therefore, is awaiting its first Ofsted rating. However, The DfE have visited us to check on our progress since converting and have reported: that very high expectations are being set of both staff and students positive progress is being made. All appointments are subject to satisfactory medical/enhanced DBS clearances and references. The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is 3.30 per hour. This applies to year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprenticeships the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent
