Originally operating as a co-operative, the structure began to change in 2001 when it had its first Co-ordinator, closely followed in 2002 with its first Chief Officer. The organisation was incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee in 1985 and registered as a Charity in In 2008 the organisation was renamed Salford Community and Voluntary Services (Salford CVS). Salford CVS is the city-wide infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector; providing specialist information, advice, development support and opportunities for influence and collaboration. We provide support for organisations to establish and develop including training for their staff, volunteers and trustees. Volunteer Centre Salford provides support for individuals who want to volunteer and assistance for organisations developing volunteer programmes. Salford CVS operates within a wider framework in terms of our membership of NAVCA, NCVO and Social nterprise UK nationally and our membership of GMCO and 10GM at city-region level. 4 Information specific to the post Salford CVS is the city-wide infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector providing specialist information, advice, development support and opportunities for influence and collaboration. Our work includes providing support for VCS organisations to establish and to develop, including delivering training for their staff, volunteers and trustees. Salford CVS has a proud history of making a difference in Salford for over 40 years. We are a well-respected partner in this city and have excellent relationships with both VCS and public sector organisations. We are financially stable with a clear business plan and a highly skilled and motivated staff team and board of trustees. As a membership organisation we work hard to address the needs and represent the interests of our hundreds of VCS member organisations. Due to a member of the Development Team furthering their career outside the organisation we are now looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly professional person who is committed to the values and priorities of Salford CVS and who wants to make a difference to the 37,000 volunteers and 1,300 voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations of Salford. Our successful candidate will play a proactive and productive role as a key member of the organisation's development team providing support to voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises in Salford. They will be providing information, advice and guidance (IAG), mentoring and training to Salford voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSs) across the full spectrum of funding and business development support. They will work with a wide range of local VCS groups and organisations to assess their need for capacity-building support and to deliver a range of support interventions that build the capacity and sustainability of VCSs in contributing to improved outcomes for people living in Salford. Our chosen candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with proven experience of fundraising, in particular writing funding applications and community fundraising. They will have knowledge and understanding of the factors affecting VCS business sustainability and improvement. They will also have an ability to research, understand and apply to practical circumstances a range of policy, strategic and legal information. In addition to providing information, advice and guidance they will have the ability to create and deliver quality participative learning and training to participants from VCS organisations. Underpinning this they will be able to communicate with people from a range of backgrounds in a sensitive and supportive way using their excellent listening and speaking skills. 5 Job Description Job Title: Development Worker (Funding and Business Specialisms) Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (excluding breaks) Grade: NJC Points 29 to 31 Salary: 25,951 to 27,668 Contract: Permanent contract, subject to successful completion of a 6 month probationary period Responsible to: Services Manager Main Purposes of the Post To provide information, advice and guidance (IAG), mentoring and training to Salford voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSs) across the full spectrum of funding and business development support. To work with a range of local VCS groups and organisations to assess their need for capacity-building support and to deliver a range of support interventions to build the capacity and sustainability of VCSs in contributing to improved outcomes for people living in Salford. Specialist funding and business development duties 1. Provide accessible, tailored, advice and support to enable VCSs to access a range of grants, contracts and funding opportunities and to support their strategic and business planning 2. Provide funding searches, bid proofreading and critical review/feedback services for VCSs 3. Provide a range of opportunities for VCSs to meet funders and develop their knowledge and skills to enable effective funding applications, including through regular funding focus events 4. Collect and communicate to colleagues and VCSs a full range of up-to-date, relevant and accessible information on funding opportunities 5. Provide a high quality, relevant and accessible monthly funding e-bulletin 6. Develop and deliver high quality accessible materials, training, workshops and support packages that enable VCSs to effectively develop their strategic and business planning and to fundraise, ensuring that these are in alignment with the Fundraising Code of Good Practice and compliant with legislative requirements 7. Develop and deliver high quality accessible materials, training, workshops and support packages that enable VCSs to effectively respond to tenders 8. Maintain, utilise, gather data from and advise colleagues on the use of systems to support funding searches 9. Collect and communicate to colleagues and VCSs a full range of up-to-date, relevant and accessible information on tendering opportunities

6 10. Monitor, gather evidence and report on agreed outcomes from information, advice and guidance on funding applications, contracts, fundraising and business development 11. Develop and implement a fundraising programme for Salford 4 Good, working to and reporting on agreed targets 12. Contribute to the Salford 4 Good website, newsletter and other promotional activities 13. Broker corporate social responsibility relationships with commercial businesses for VCSs General development duties 14. Provide general information, advice and guidance to VCSs in a range of areas including governance, policies, planning, evidencing impact and outcomes, equalities, assessing and managing risk, etc. 15. Provide mentoring to VCSs in a range of areas including governance, policies, planning, evidencing impact and outcomes, equalities, assessing and managing risk, etc. 16. Provide support to new groups to establish including through Charity, Company and CIC registration 17. Develop, review, deliver and evaluate training interventions for a full range of relevant areas 18. Support groups to network with other VCSs and to link into partnership and strategic priorities for the city of Salford that are relevant to their work 19. Monitor, gather evidence and report on agreed outcomes from all relevant aspects of the work this will contribute towards monitoring and evaluation processes, annual reports and marketing and communications. 20. Maintain a caseload of VCSs for whom you are responsible for ensuring regular communications, focussing on their needs and recording outcomes within a clear customer care framework on CiviCRM 21. Maintain and update allocated areas of the Salford CVS website 22. Contribute to twitter communications and other social media as agreed 23. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, including signposting the Volunteer Centre s service offer whenever possible 24. Work alongside partners, VCS peer mentors and trainers 25. Support, mentor and direct volunteers delivering Salford CVS activities 26. Maintain professional registrations, as required.g. SFDI, PQASSO, IOF etc. Generic Responsibilities (all Salford CVS staff) 27. To attend and actively participate in monthly staff team meetings 28. To attend and contribute to regular line management sessions with your designated line manager

7 29. To be responsible for the completion of work as set out in an agreed action plan, ensuring targets are met and delivered to timescale 30. To write and submit a detailed monthly report to the Chief xecutive of Salford CVS and your line manager 31.
