1 Job Title JOB DESCRIPTION Area ICT Operations Manager Salary Scale Scale J Hours of Work Weeks Worked 52 Responsible to Head of ICT Location Various MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE To support the Head of ICT in the delivery of high quality Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services across their allocated cluster of schools, ensuring that the premises ICT is always fully available every school day To keep the Trust s ICT in the best possible condition, focusing on the requirement to keep the ICT 100% safe, secure, compliant and available To line manage the ICT technicians across their allocated cluster of schools Act as the day to day ICT delivery link between school leadership, school ICT technician teams and the Central team Ensure that ICT related external contractors are delivering the service expectations agreed at the time contracts were signed Deliver the agreed range of projects to meet outcomes, time, budget and quality expectations ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Responsible to the Head of ICT who is the Line Manager Direct liaison with the allocated schools ICT staff Direct liaison with school leadership, teaching and support staff as well as external users of the ICT including students, governors, parents, visitors and community users Colleagues within the trust Suppliers and service providers Local statutory bodies

2 PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES OR ACTIVITIES Ensuring the high-level strategic planning and operational delivery for ICT service delivery and strategic direction, delivering change initiatives, capital projects, contract negotiations and consistency across their allocated cluster of schools Manage the leadership and direction setting for the school ICT Technicians, focussed on delivering first class ICT service. Prioritising ICT Technicians workload in consultation with the school's leadership. Monitoring and managing ICT Technicians performance Managing ICT Technicians, giving advice, setting standards and ensuring they are maintained. This may include deploying technicians to meet academy or cross-curricular needs and priorities and/or personally covering their duties if necessary. Assisting with the technical staff recruitment, induction, performance management and training and development programmes, in accordance with the needs of the ICT department and academies. Monitor and ensure compliance with Service Desk and scheduled task SLAs and KPIs using the ICT Service Desk application and Scheduled Task Tracker Develop relationships internally and externally. Attend meetings with schools and contractors, attending each site within their allocated cluster monthly as a minimum, ensuring contact with schools leadership and local ICT staff Manage ICT projects and change within agreed frameworks, including agreeing where items are funded from before work begins and ensuring the correct approval process has been followed for every project Ensure all ICT purchased have been approved under the Trusts Finance procedures, using approved suppliers wherever possible Ensure all ICT systems; physical, virtual and externally hosted are effective, secure and reliable, reporting any non-compliance to the Trusts Head of ICT Ensure any breaches in safeguarding, security or data protection are reported to the Trusts Head of ICT in a timely fashion Ensure school ICT backups Disaster Recovery (DR) plans are up to date and tested to the agreed schedules, reporting any non-compliance to the Trusts Head of ICT Attend regular ICT Risk Review Meetings, monitoring and mitigating risk in line with the ICT Risk Log plans, reporting any non-compliance to the Trusts Head of ICT Ensure school Asset Registers are current and asset disposal is carried out to the agreed policy and procedures Share best practice, ideas and information with colleagues to maximise effectiveness of the ICT Team Manage monthly ICT team meetings, maintaining agenda s, minutes and ensure all actions are completed to agreed deadlines Keep in contact with market changes in technology, carry out technical innovation reviews and report findings and proposals to the Trusts Head of ICT Ensure all ICT documentation is complete and up to date and review policies in conjunction with the Trusts Head of ICT

3 Ensure all ICT licenses, maintenance agreements and system warranties are up to date and compliant PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Participate in the Trust s arrangements for performance management, professional development and the Trust s arrangements for quality assurance and internal verification. CONTEXT All staff are part of the whole Trust team. Each individual is required to support the values and ethos of the Trust and Trust priorities as defined in the Trust Improvement Plan. This will mean focusing on the needs of colleagues, parents and students and being flexible in a demanding environment. MISCELLANEOUS To undertake any further tasks which could be reasonably expected by the Trust. The Data Protection Act 1998 renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of an unauthorised disclosure of information. The post is one that carries responsibility for the wellbeing and welfare of children and the post holder should be aware of this and the need to act accordingly. 4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Qualifications Suitable training / qualification in ICT Experience Experience of working within a school environment Experience of working in an ICT management role Experience of developing and implementing ICT service standards and strategy across diverse locations Experience of ensuring a safe, secure and compliant ICT environment Experience of project and change management and delivery of agreed outcomes Professional Skills and Attributes Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff within the Trust (verbal, written, ) Ability to liaise and work with/control external contractors Ability to construct and implement plans of work Ability to effectively lead a team of people Excellent organisational skills ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Ability to meet deadlines Ability to develop positive working relationships Creative approach leading to solution focused Approachable Accurate and diligent work Passion for learning and development
