1 VED - A Mission Vidarbha, the centrally located region of India has tremendous potential to develop into an economic force. Its rich natural resources, the mineral & forest wealth, rich cultivable land, mega thermal power generation and convenient geographical location are waiting to be tapped. VED is a mission, which aims at achieving speedy economic development of Vidarbha through tapping these resources & speeding up all barriers that create bottlenecks. Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VEDC), an NGO, was established in 1995 by Vidarbhaites, to proactively work for the economic development of this developing region of Maharashtra. It is a non-political organization, which works as a mission to survey, identify, study, analyze and then pursue various thrust areas, which can dramatically transform the economy of this region. The Multi Modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) is one of its success stories, which will provide alternative employment opportunities to the people of this region. 2 Mission Statement To bring all round economic development of the 11 Districts of Vidarbha and to work for this cause selflessly without gain of profit or office by: 1. Intelligent & eco-friendly tapping of natural resources and geographical advantages of this region. 2. Creation of necessary infra-structure, to make the above possible. 3. Securing co-operation and contribution in these efforts from everybody irrespective of their social, religious or political ideologies and from the people s representatives MLAs, MLCs, MPs, Bureaucrats and NGOs of this region, the State & Central Government.
