3 Mandateto further the professionalisation of the community development sector Composition totalling 13 core expert representatives in: HE, Public Sector, SETA s, Reps from (most served) SAQA task teams, community development & program evaluation methodologists Specific Objectives: Promote coordination & harmonization of policy guidance & stakeholder involvement for professionalisation; Advocate, promote, support, monitor & evaluate both internally & externally accelerated implementation of ComDev qualifications; Assess, support & promote development & sharing of technical requirements for community development qualifications delivery; Support & broaden networking & collaboration. 3

Integrate theory & practice to analyse needs, to plan & facilitate interventions to collectively build community capital for social change & justice. Promote change & community ownership that is self-sustaining. Coordinate interactions with communities. Conduct research in communities to facilitate & inform a participatory approach to development. Promote integrated well-being of a community according to fundamental principles and ethics of community development. 6

ELO 2: (Research Methodology): Analyse, synthesise, evaluate & review complex info to conceptualise a problem & produce evidence based argument/solution to a situation. ELO 3 (Critical theory, approaches, concepts): Critically analyse philosophies and theories of community development. ELO 4 (Policy & Legislation): Knowledge of regulatory environment, operate within it in a local, provincial, national, regional or global context. 7

8 ELO 5: (Ethics, principles, processes, management, leadership): Apply ethics, principles, values & processes of community development to a specific context. ELO 6: (Social cohesion, group dynamics, holistic, integrated & organisational development): Knowledge of interdependent relationships between individuals, families, groups/organisations, the community, State & society to facilitate processes for interdependent relationships within own scope of practice. ELO 7: (Professionalism, emotional intelligence, self-reflection): Understanding concepts of responsibility & accountability.
