1 The Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education Employee of the Month Recognition Program School Year Each month, the Board of Education (BOE) will recognize an outstanding employee who excels in a particular area (specific to the month s theme) as the PCSD BOE s Employee of the Month, under the Board of Education Past and Parent Committee. Winners are selected by a broadly representative, interdepartmental committee that bases its decisions on specified criteria, which vary from month-to-month depending on the theme for that month. Here are the current themes for each month: January: Marvelous Motivator (setting goals and motivating others to achieve results-driven goals) February: Good Work Ethic March: Innovation and Creativity April: Performance Versatility May: Works Well Under Pressure June: Superb Communicator July: Outstanding Training Ability and Focus on Skill and Will August: Positive Attitude September: Excellent Teamwork October: Effective Leadership November: Outstanding Customer Service December: Loyalty and Commitment The Employee of the Month receives: Recognition Certificate at the Board of Education meeting conferred by the Board President and Superintendent of Schools. Recognition on the District website. Recognition for the month with a photo displayed in Central Office and at the winner s work site. Reserved parking space for the month at their primary location. All nominees must: 1. Be employed with the Poughkeepsie City School District for at least one year. 2. Have no disciplinary actions within the last twelve (12) months. 3. Have meets or exceeds expectations ratings or equivalent on their most recent performance evaluations. They must be employees in good standing who are especially outstanding in the current month's theme. 1

2 4. Must demonstrate a teamwork attitude. 5. Not have won an Employee of the Month award in the past twelve (12) months. 6. Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Department Executive Directors and Directors are not eligible as nominees for The Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education Employee of the Month Recognition Program Employees may be nominated by the Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Department Executive Directors and Directors, Administrators (Principals and Assistant Principals) or colleagues. Employees may not be nominated by the Superintendent of Schools or members of the Board of Education. Self-nominations are not accepted. To nominate an employee for each month s theme, please obtain a nomination form from the Board of Education Board Clerk, Mrs. Victoria Jackson, or visit the website at under the Board of Education tab; follow the instructions provided. The form describes the month's criteria and the nomination process in detail. Please be sure to note the deadline on the form for an on-time submission of the nomination document. 3 The Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education Employee of the Month Recognition Program NOMINATION FORM January 2017 DEADLINE IS THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 2017 NOTE: this deadline has been extended to FRIDAY, JANUARY 13, 2017 due to the holiday in December and other extenuating circumstances. (NOTE: All applications are due on the first Thursday of each month.) January 2017 Theme: Recognizing a Staff Member who is a Marvelous Motivator A Marvelous Motivator is an employee who brings joyful interaction to the workplace by setting goals and working with the team to achieve the goals. This employee is engaged in both the work and the in ethos of the team; he/she is empathetic, communicates well, and is supportive of all team members. Nominees demonstrate excellent work ethic through an unwavering focus on productivity and diligence. Nominees are timely, driven, loyal and committed-- demonstrating prompt and courteous responses to the needs and goals of their department/school/and the overall organization. They focus relentlessly on the important details and the big picture to ensure that there is a sense of urgency in completing tasks with fidelity and efficaciousness. They pay attention to even the smallest details; they sweat the small stuff so that the overall health and wellbeing of the organization are areas of priority.
