1 POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: RESPONSIBLE TO: RESPONSIBLE FOR: TIMEFRAME: Chief Executive Officer Mungoorbada Board Managing all functions of the 1 year + 3 year ROLE AND FUNCTION OF THIS POSITION: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for all operational and financial management of the by providing exceptional leadership to achieve the strategic direction of the Corporation as set by the Board of Directors. The position is supported by a qualified accountant however this is a very hands-on position with much of the operational requirements of the position being undertaken by the incumbent. It is expected that the CEO will work closely, and in consultation, with all Directors, community members and employees of the Corporation to manage and administer the plans and business of the The CEO will support the coordination and delivery of contracts, programs and services to the Robinson River Community. RESPONSIBILITIES The core competencies expected of this CEO position follow. Creates Vision and Gives Direction Takes a leadership role in implementing the Board s vision and strategic plans for the Influences and inspires others to share ownership of the organisation s goals. Demonstrates sound strategic thinking and planning to ensure the Corporation moves towards its vision. Manages change by initiating, developing, communicating and coordinating activities. Is able to think creatively and laterally to source employment and income producing programs during times of declining Government funding.

Develops People Builds the competence of Directors, staff and community people through sound advisory and development strategies as directed by the Board. Motivates, develops and empowers staff to achieve quality outputs. Takes an active role in managing the Corporation s relationship and interactions with the groups in the community and beyond to support building the community capacity to initiate and implement projects and programs. Creates a work environment where people are encouraged to develop their potential. Fosters a collaborative work environment and establishes mutual trust and respect. Manages Resources and Risks Ensures that human and physical resources including financial, technological and information requirements are available and effectively, efficiently and ethically used to meet the strategic and operational service delivery needs. Negotiates effectively to obtain resources to achieve outcomes. Evaluates the use of resources to ensure continual improvement. Ensures the Corporation is compliant with all Acts, laws, regulations and policies. Promotes and Achieves Quality Outcomes Establishes organisational structures, business plans and procedures that support the Corporation delivering quality services and strategies. Ensures high standards of work practice and customer service standards are embedded in the organisation. Evaluates the outcomes achieved against set standards and implements improvements. Understands Relationships Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with others in government and diverse groups of people within the public and private sectors and the wider community. Collaborates and employs effective communication strategies. Leads the involvement of the Mungoorbada community in communicating with and influencing the Board. Leads the Corporation in providing services equitably and appropriately with respect to the diversity of groups in the community. Approaches all situations with a clear perception of the political context and reality. Effectively identifies and manages conflict and potential sources of conflict or dissatisfaction. Self-Awareness and Self-Management Acts with integrity by being aware of own strengths and behaviour and self manages to have the best possible impact on the behaviour of others.

SELECTION CRITERIA Competency Requirements (all requirements are essential unless otherwise stated). 1. Leadership Proven leadership at the Chief Executive Officer level, with the ability to understand and implement legislation impacting on the Corporation and stand firm on community and Board issues. High level strategic planning skills and knowledge of corporate management requirements. Delegation skills to ensure the achievement of outcomes, accountability of staff and the development of employees abilities. Understanding of the application of contemporary human resource management principles. 2. Policy Implementation Good knowledge of public policy issues as they impact on the Good knowledge of and understanding of Aboriginal policies as they apply to a Corporation in a remote community. 4 Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communication effectively with Aboriginal people. An understanding of and ability to manage a cattle property with close reliance on living and working the land. Excellent decision making skills and an analytical approach to problem solving.

Qualifications and/or Experience A Degree or equivalent in a relevant tertiary Management, Business and/or Public Sector Administration discipline or comparable work experience is expected for this position. EXTENT OF AUTHORITY All authority vested in a Chief Executive Officer under the Corporation Act and associated Regulations and other relevant Acts. Authority to sign all legal documents and cheques as delegated and properly directed by Board. Salary Package to $137,459. Per annum The position has a base salary of $101,000 per annum plus the following: Accommodation in a 2 or 3 bedroom dwelling with nominal rent ($30.00pw) Inclusive of reasonable telephone, internet and electricity costs. 12% superannuation 6 weeks annual leave, 17.5% leave loading Relocation Allowance up to $2,000 Financial support to meet costs of training and professional development relevant to the role and the development of Corporation s capabilities Salary sacrifice of up to $30,000 per year (gross) This remuneration package includes the expectation that you will be required to perform a reasonable amount of overtime. Your salary includes any and all considerations of overtime that may be required and worked from time to time.
