3 01 SUPPORT TEAM EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP At WWT, we believe that consistently making a positive social and business impact on the world requires a combination of corporate social responsibility and focusing on embracing a diversity of people and ideas. DAVE STEWARD Chairman dave.steward@wwt.com ANN MARR VP, Human Resources ann.marr@wwt.com This is our view of social business: when strategic initiatives mirror the public good they produce win-win scenarios that we appreciate, both as employees and citizens, and this helps our business align naturally with our social values to the greater benefit of us all. WWT s Corporate Development Program is a vehicle by which we accomplish this goal, as it helps build strategic partnerships with minority-owned and small businesses, as well as charitable organizations. In turn, these affiliations enable WWT to remain competitive as we develop a diverse environment and refresh our teams through the recruitment and retention of top minority talent. 6 04 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & SUSTAINABILITY CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & SUSTAINABILITY Objective: Reduce company greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption by 10% in 2020 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT GOALS On an annual basis, data is collected and analyzed to establish goals to reduce our impact on the environment. The following measurements are applied within our three areas of conservation: Water Conservation. Water usage is measured by capturing the number of gallons used at our Corporate campus. Our objective is to reduce the number of gallons used year over year. Annual goals are based on performance review, historical data and planning activities. Energy Conservation. Electricity usage is measured by capturing the kilowatt hours used at our Corporate campus. Our objective is to reduce the number of kilowatt hours used year over year. Annual goals are established based on performance review, historical data, and planning activities. Cardboard, Wood, Plastic Wrap and Single Stream Recycling. Recycling is measured by capturing the weight of the recycled materials through our recycling program at our largest warehousing facilities in Edwardsville, Illinois. Our objective is to recycle 100% of cardboard, wood and plastic wrap waste at these locations without accruing any containment expenses from our vendor. Annual goals are established based on performance review, historical data and planning activities. WWT is dedicated to supporting the communities in which we live, work and play. Our goal is to bring lasting, positive change to the community through leadership, volunteerism, philanthropy and diversity. WWT s philanthropic contribution decisions are based on the merits of individual projects and organizations. We are most attracted to high-quality, effective, goal-oriented organizations and projects that benefit and support family services and the youth of our community, bring together diverse groups with common concerns, improve education, build new approaches and address human needs and services. COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY Encouragement of community growth and development through employee volunteerism Participation in programs to generate minority applicants such as career fairs, professional organizations, etc. Highlight examples of employees who receive awards and recognition Participation in charitable events and/or partnerships with non-profit agencies COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY WWT is committed to operating in an environmentally sound and responsible manner. We recognize environmental management as one of our highest corporate responsibilities and strive to minimize our impact on the environment through the implementation and continual improvement of pollutionprevention measures in a manner that is consistent with our overall mission and goals. WWT s Environmental Management System (EMS) is an extension of WWT s ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and is intended to help achieve established environmental goals through repeatable and consistent controls. The EMS program consists of specific policies, operational planning and implementation, training and ongoing assessment/improvement. Because the majority of WWT s impact on the environment is a result of the water and energy consumed, the EMS program focuses primarily on the conservation of these resources. Nearly 100% of waste cardboard, wood and plastic wrap at our warehouse operations is recycled; WWT also provides recycling bins in the workplace for employees to recycle paper, plastic and aluminum waste. WWT became an EPA SmartWay Transport Partner in SmartWay is an EPA program that helps logistics companies assess, calculate and track their efficiency through various metrics including fuel economy, CO2, NOx and PM emissions and many other parameters.
