This prject will encmpass many diverse ptins and cnclude with an exit interview. The fundatin f this prject is embedded in career explratin, which will prepare yu t pursue yur future endeavrs. Many f the required items will present naturally within the curriculum f yur classes. We have prvided yu with mre flexibility in yur junir and senir years t allw fr explratin f any career interests yu may pursue when yu graduate. The purpse f this manual is fr yu and yur parent/guardian t review and understand the prject by including specific details and prcedures. We encurage yu t explre varius career ptins as yu develp yur prtfli, and reflect back n the prtfli cmpnents as yu cntinue thrugh yur high schl career. As nted abve, an exit interview will be a part f the culminating prject. The exit interview will take place with any r all f the fllwing: teachers, administratrs, and guidance staff in yur senir year. The purpse f the exit interview is t analyze the evidence f the wrk yu have cmpleted fr the prject and t articulate the reasns why yu explred particular areas f interest. Additinally, interviewing is an essential skill that will benefit yu in the future. We believe this prcess will be beneficial fr yur grwth. These assessments shuld be taken serius and given cnsideratin. The assessments are used t determine what careers might be f best interest fr yu and fit with yur persnality traits. Yu will need t retain the infrmatin frm yur 8 th grade year fr yur final prtfli. Yu and yur parent/guardian will meet with the guidance cunselr t discuss the results f yur assessment and begin yur high schl academic plan, with fcus n preparing yu fr yur desired career. 9 TH GRADE YEAR Beginning with the class f 2020, yu will be experiencing a class called CEW. This class will fcus n Career, Educatin, and Wrkplace standards. Items taught will fcus yu n yur career gals. During this class yu will be wrking with the business teachers and guidance cunselr t cmplete resumes, cver letter, letters f recmmendatins, sft skills (i.e. cmmunicatin, prblem slving, teamwrk, cnflict reslutin, etc.), and all ther career fcused materials. This wrk shuld be kept in a binder and updated every year after. During this curse yu will be expsed t educatin and career planning websites that will be used in writing a paper. The websites may include but may nt be limited t: r This paper will address where yu see yurself in five years. The paper will be turned in during the spring f the year. The business teacher will create and grade this paper n a rubric. The rubric will be included with the paper in yur prtfli. 2

Cmplete the ASVAB test and have a cpy f yur scres available fr yur exit interview a. The Armed Services Vcatinal Aptitude Battery is the mst widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the wrld. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures yur strengths, weaknesses, and ptential fr future success. The ASVAB als prvides yu with career infrmatin fr varius civilian and military ccupatins and is an indicatr fr success in future endeavrs whether yu chse t g t cllege, vcatinal schl, r a military career. This will be scheduled fr all students t take during schl hurs. 2. Take the SAT, ACT, r PSAT (Cllege Bund). Include a cpy f yur results fr yur exit interview. (10 th Grade PSAT satisfies requirement fr prject credit) 3. Take a SAT prep curse and prvide a paper signed by yur instructr f cmpletin f the curse. 4. Visit a pst-secndary institutin and cmplete the Pst-Secndary Visit Student Reflectin Frm. This frm shuld be available during yur exit interview. 5. Attend the pst-secndary training with parent/guardian spnsred by FMSD with a PHEAA representative. This ccurs each January.
