3 Overview of URBACT II European Territorial Cooperation programme jointly financed by ERDF and Member States budget 69 M ) Main objective To promote Integrated & Sustainable Urban Development Specific objectives To facilitate exchange & learning among EU cities To draw lessons and build knowledge To disseminate good practices and lessons learnt To support policy-makers and practitioners THE networking programme for EU cities on urban issues

7 URBACT III Future Orientations Financial Framework 53m > 74m ERDF More than half dedicated to exchange and learning activity lead by cities (networks) Remaining budget will indirectly support cities through expertise, capacity building activities, capitalistion and dissemination actions

9 URBACT III Future Orientations Thematic Concentration (2) Thematic Coverage selected after consultation with the MS 70% of exchange and learning budget to be dedicated to 5 Thematic Objectives: strengthening research, technological development and innovation (TO1) supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy in all sectors (TO4) protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency (T06) promoting social inclusion and combating poverty (T09) promoting employment and supporting labour mobility (T08) The remaining 30% will be available for all other themes based on a bottom up approach
