Wellington College China currently comprises colleges located in Tianjin, Shanghai and Hangzhou. Together they serve approximately 3000 pupils. 2 Basic Information JOB TITLE Finance Director DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR CEO OBJECTIVES Wellington College China Central Office The Finance Director will be responsible for strategic oversight of the group s financial management. Main tasks include optimizing group-wide legal structure, tax, cash and financing; financial projection for new projects; overseeing the development and implementation of financial policies; arranging internal audits; ensuring the adequacy of financial systems and IT; tracking and coordinating inter-school transactions. The group s finance and accounting activities should be designed to safeguard and protect the assets of the schools, ensure completeness and accuracy of reported financial data, improve the efficiency of financial processes and achieve financial surpluses sufficient to support the schools academic objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Strategic planning 1) Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives. 2) Ensures credibility of the finance of the group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts. 3) Ensures efficient capital expenditures 4) Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, including the introduction of new programmes/ strategies and regulatory action. 5) Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives in order to identify their needs and seek full range of business solution 6) Effectively leads the finance / accounting team by developing and coaching the existing team and by hiring and retaining top-grade talent 7) Optimizes the group-wide legal structure, tax, cash and financing

3 8) Collaborates with Human Resource to design and implement the executive compensation scheme 9) Creates financial modelling and analysis of new projects to assist decisions on group development 10)Develops a group level reporting template and dashboard for the board and senior executives 11) Develops a common reporting calendar and standardized reporting templates 12) Monitors the training requirements of financial staff and recommends and /or delivers training where necessary 2. Financial oversight and internal audits 1) Directs and oversees all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization 2) Attends each school s finance sub-committee meetings 3) Develops and ensures completeness of group and school financial policies and shares best practice among schools (with schools support) 4) Monitors all schools monthly accounts 5) Develops internal audit plans to verify effective implementation of policies and procedures and to ensure financial data integrity and ensure compliance with PRC applicable regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting 3. Financial systems and IT 1) Ensures harmonisation of accounting software across all schools in the group 2) Develops consistency across schools in the chart of accounts and profit/cost centres to facilitate standardised reporting 3) Oversees the development and implementation of automated financial processes where appropriate in order to minimise manual workloads 4) Ensures appropriate data security and disaster recovery for financial processes across the group

External services 1) Reviews current banking across all schools and considers if consolidated banking or financing facilities would bring advantages 2) Monitors tax risks and exposures across the group meanwhile seeks tax opportunity and develops co-ordinated planning where appropriate 3) Acts as an independent point of contact with oversight of each school s local audit 5. Team Development 1) Develops leadership talent pipeline and effective succession planning for central and school finance teams 2) Ensures that appropriate training and development opportunities are available through a professional learning network 3) Facilitates the sharing of best practice across schools and Central office JOB QUALIFICATIONS BASIC QUALIFICATION Education Professional Language Bachelor's degree or above Major in Accounting or Finance and Professional qualification from a recognised accounting institute Fluent in English and Chinese EXPERIENCE PERSONAL QUALITIES Working Experience Management Experience 15 years and above of finance experience Auditing experience desirable Tax experience desirable MNC finance experience Knowledge of education industry useful though not essential. Interest and passion for education and its meaning, however, is essential. 5 years and above people management experience in financial roles Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at various locations essential.
