2 ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP The times they are a changin. With lightening speed, our field of aging services is emerging from an era of institutional models of housing and services to consumer-driven settings that demand creativity and new ways of thinking about delivering on the promise of our missions. Our customers of tomorrow Baby Boomers will drive these changes and shape the types and quality of services unlike any generation before them. Already the landscape is changing faster than some organizations can keep up with. The GOOD news is that many organizations in our field are adapting and thriving in this challenging environment. What s their secret? How will you not only survive, but thrive? It s not a secret at all. At the heart of many such organizations is a strong, dynamic coalition in leadership. Now more than ever, the working relationship between Chief Executive Officers and their Board Members is the key to a successful organization. Join us for this extraordinary day-long workshop. Together we ll explore concepts, strategies, and tools to help you evaluate and align your present style of governance. You ll generate valuable and practical ideas that you will transform into concrete actions back home. You ll come away with stronger alignment between your board effectiveness and your organizational effectiveness. This is What You ll Take Away: 1. The Changing Trends and Forces shaping the future of services to seniors 2. A new Framework of Governance: Five Paths of Effective Governance 3. The Power of an Effective Relationship between Board Chair and CEO 4. The Value of an Evaluation process of Board and CEO Who Should Attend? This is a team learning environment. The workshop format and content are specifically designed for participation by a TEAM of a key board member leader (chair, incoming chair or emerging leader) AND their executive from not-for-profit retirement housing and elder care organizations (including continuing care retirement communities, assisted living, and nursing care providers.) CEOs must be accompanied by one or more board leaders. The value and impact of the program is lost and scarce financial resources wasted if only one staff person attends. As a CEO/Board Leader team, you will devote the time to talk about the knowledge gained at the workshop and then dig in to identify what it means for your organization and how to apply what you ve learned to make lasting, meaningful changes.
