1 KIC InnoEnergy Benelux Education Manager Communicative pragmatist with knowledge of business models as well as educational programmes in the academic world KIC InnoEnergy The EIT (European Institute of Technology) has selected KIC InnoEnergy as the Knowledge and Innovation Community for paving the way for an independent and sustainable energy system in Europe. For achieving that goal, KIC InnoEnergy will foster the integration of education, technology, business and entrepreneurship, strengthening the culture of innovation. KIC InnoEnergy is a company with 27 European shareholders, all of them key players in the energy field, among which top rank industries, research centers and universities. Those 27 entities are geographically attached to one of 6 local offices (Sweden, Poland Plus, Germany, Benelux, France and Iberia). Each center is responsible for the coordination of a technological topic within the field of sustainable energy: Sweden: European Smart Electric Grid & Electric Storage; Poland: Clean Coal Technologies; Germany: Energy from Chemical Fuels; Benelux: Smart and efficient buildings and cities; France: Sustainable Nuclear & Renewable Energy Convergence; Iberia: Renewables. Besides those 27 shareholders, there are associated and project partners (up to 100+ altogether), that collaborate in the activities of KIC InnoEnergy. KIC InnoEnergy delivers three business lines, with outputs, which are interwoven along their timeline: 1. Education: MSc students, PhDs and mid career engineers, with a specialised training and learning on the job in the fields of sustainable energy, entrepreneurship and new management styles (namely co coopetition). 2. Innovation projects: new products or services, by adaptation of existing technologies, or creation of new ones, with an impact in the sustainability of the current energy processes, by improving them or creating new ones. And their commercialisation. 3. Business Creation: new businesses/companies, led by new entrepreneurs (intra or extra KIC InnoEnergy) and/or the stakeholders of the value chain. Each business line (Education, Innovation projects, Business Creation) has its business model (product, customer, revenues and costs), which is fundamental for a sustainable KIC InnoEnergy.

2 KIC InnoEnergy is organised as a holding company, with additional legal entities at each local office, where KIC InnoEnergy controls at least 51% of the voting rights (through shares if those entities are companies, or by other means if they are not companies). Financial resources to run KIC InnoEnergy come at least from 4 sources: the EIT, as a grant that is negotiated yearly upon a business plan, where the added value activities are identified; the partners of KIC InnoEnergy, that contribute both in cash and in kind; others sources of funding (public or private research, education or innovation programs, support from national or regional governments, Banks and Venture Capital providers); monetisation of the assets created by KIC InnoEnergy. Those resources are spent in the three business lines and at operational level : Education: execution of the education programs and projects yearly decided upon in the business plan; Innovation Projects: execution of the research & technology projects yearly decided upon in the business plan; Business Creation: implementation of the innovation infrastructure & services yearly decided upon in the business plan; Operation of the KIC InnoEnergy (holding level and local offices level). Additional information: innoenergy.com. Mission, Role & Responsibilities The organization of KIC InnoEnergy has now come to a consolidation phase. This means that all the existing roles within the organization will become less multifunctional and become more specialized. For that reason KIC InnoEnergy Benelux is in need for a specialized Education Manager. The role of Education Manager is embedded in a matrix organisation. The Education Manager has line responsibility to the CEO of the Benelux Office. Functionally the Education Manager reports to the KIC InnoEnergy Education Director In the education line, 4 levels are identified: THE ACTIVITIES LEVEL: Currently the 7 ongoing Master Programmes, the 6 ongoing PhD tracks, the 3 ongoing Executive programmes, the ongoing Learning Modules. The role accountable for timely and quality delivery is the activity manager, who reports (hard line) to the Education Officer of the colocation where the activity is anchored; and dotted line to the Manager of the Product

3 line where the activity is anchored (i.e. Master programme activity manager reports dotted line to the MSc School Manager). THE PRODUCT LINES LEVEL: Currently the portfolio of KIC InnoEnergy in education has 4 product lines: Master School, PhD School, Learning Models and Executive School. Those product lines have a manager whose key responsibility it is to make the product line homogeneous, of highest quality, sharing best practices, securing the EIT label, having an in depth control of the product line. The product line manager reports to the KIC InnoEnergy Education Director. Those 4 product line managers, together with the CFO of education and the Human Capital Manager constitute the EDU (Educational Development Unit) operational team, led by the KIC InnoEnergy Education Director. THE LOCATION S EDUCATION LEVEL: KIC InnoEnergy s strategy in education is based on the principle of life long learning. Consequently the 4 product lines need to be more integrated. To reach this goal an open and interactive relationship with the key stakeholders of the product lines, is key for the success of KIC InnoEnergy in Education. Finally, the integrated management of all the education activities at location level, need to be secured. THE STRATEGIC LEVEL: As a key request from the shareholders, an annual evaluation of the strategy will be done. For this annual evaluation an adhoc task force is composed. This task force is led by the KIC InnoEnergy CEO and KIC InnoEnergy Education Director. In this new period of consolidation, the Education Manager will play three key roles in the above mentioned educational levels: 1 managerial, 2 commercial/account involvement 3 strategically operational Main Tasks In general the key responsibility of the Education Manager is to efficiently manage the educational activities in the Office: The responsibility of the performance of the KIC InnoEnergy Benelux EDU organization for the EDU results. Secure that the Business Planning and Reporting of all the Education activities is done within the required quality standards and on time. This requires an excellent co creation, planning and a fluid two way interaction with the activity managers and the product line managers (for the activities), with the KIC InnoEnergy Education Director, with the Benelux Marcom staff, and with the Benelux Manager and CFO. Secure continuous reporting by the activity managers of all education related KPIs of all the education activities anchored in the Benelux, in close co responsibility with the product line managers.

4 Secure smooth and efficient interaction of the Human Capital function with the different education programmes. Ensure that the EIT perspective of student centered education, aligned teaching, active learning is introduced into all the Benelux anchored education activities. Actively ensure that innovation, entrepreneurship, business (including marketing and management), as well as societal and humanity aspects are included in a financially sustainable way in all educational activities performed in the Office. Support the educational MSc School and PhD School Managers towards receiving and maintaining the EIT label for all the relevant educational products anchored in the Benelux. Actively support the directors of the Master Programme and PhD Track anchored in the Benelux. Drive, follow up, monitor and report on the cost effective (short and long term) implementation of the selected educational activities of the Benelux, including efficient financial sustainability. Continuously implement/secure common application and selection processes and common administrative procedures (as defined by the EDU OT and EDU WG) to run the KIC InnoEnergy educational activities at partner universities. Actively implement measures to increase the number of students from Benelux in all the KIC InnoEnergy programmes. Coordinate the Benelux yearly internal peer evaluation of the EDU programmes progress. Coordinate the knowledge triangle activities. This must be done together with the Business Creation and Innovation Projects departments. Secure the interaction with the other business lines. Develop together with the Education Director new education programmes Promote actively KIC InnoEnergy s Educational activities in the Benelux office Determine the specific strenghts in education of the KIC InnoEnergy Office partners, as well as their appetite to use KIC InnoEnergy as an enabler for change. Build longterm relations with the KIC Innoenergy partner universities, industry and other organisations attached to the office, which are or should be contributors to KIC InnoEnergy s strategy in education. Facilitate the relationship with other KIC educational partners that could bring an added value to the KIC InnoEnergy ambition. Create liquidity in calls for proposals for new educational projects (i.e. Mooc s) Facilitate and implement industrial involvement in all KIC Innoenergy educational activities. Key Qualifications Academic degree on PhD level; Documented experience with design, planning and implementation of education programmes (i.e. MSc and/or PhD programmes) in an international environment; Experience in linking academics & business, with tangible results of significant industry involvement; Experience in working with market requirements and business models;

5 Perfect fluency in English and Dutch is a requirement; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Extensive experience in project management.
