1 Casual Community Payback Supervisor Job Purpose: Accountability: Hours: Salary: To supervise the work of persons sentenced by the Court to Unpaid Work requirements. To encourage and motivate them in the successful completion of their orders. Community Payback Unit Manager As required per hour enhanced for weekend working Key responsibilities: 1. To take responsibility for work groups throughout their duration and at no time to leave them unsupervised. 2. To ensure that those on unpaid work orders obtain a satisfactory standard of performance and to assist them in reaching that standard where necessary. 3. To comply with the requirements and guidance of the National Unpaid Manual in carrying out duties. 4. To complete accurate work returns. 5. To pass on to appropriate Community Payback Team members details as to the conduct, quality of work and time-keeping of workers, together with any absences, problems encountered or other relevant information. 6. To attend court and give evidence as required. 7. To deliver pre placement work sessions (where required), including general Health and Safety information. 8. To deliver to offenders on site toolbox health safety instruction on the use of specific tools and equipment and to record which offenders have received it. JD Casual CP Supervisor June15 1

2 9. To liaise with Community Payback Team as to material and tool requirements. 10. To maintain equipment and take care of all Service tools and equipment, ensure they are returned in a clean condition and report any breakages or losses in line with Health and Safety expectations. 11. To maintain the minibuses in line with Health and Safety requirements. 12. To ensure the security of premises where possible, and that beneficiaries have taken precautions against theft or damage. 13. To challenge and report the use of drugs and alcohol consumed during or prior to the hours of supervision, in line with responsibilities under Health and Safety legislation. 14. To deal constructively with difficulties/crisis to avoid disruption to work session and to refer to manager/others appropriately. 15. Where required to transport workers and tools to and from work site. 16. At all times to endeavour to maintain the credibility and good reputation of the Community Payback Scheme and to ensure that wherever possible work is made visible to communities within the principles of Community Payback. 17. To contribute to the assessment of workers risk of harm and offending behaviour by ensuring relevant information on offenders action / behaviour is passed to the Offender Manager. 18. To be acquainted with the risk that offenders pose by reading the risk to supervisor sheets that are prepared on all offenders. 19. To maintain records at a sufficient standard to meet legal requirements. 20. Where required attend unit and service meetings and attend and participate in performance management and supervision sessions. Participate in activities to develop and improve own practice and that of others. 21. To undertake such other duties commensurate with salary and grading of the post as may from time to time be required. 22.
