1 JOB DESCRIPTION ROLE: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Facilities and Maintenance Co-ordinator Operations BWUH Facilities Manager SALARY: 28,000 HOUR OF WORK: 39 DURATION: Permanent Post Main Purpose of Job: As part of the Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall Ltd team, you are to ensure that both buildings are fit for the delivery of events as planned and that customers experience of an event is exceeded through the provision of surroundings presented to the highest standard. The co-ordination of both internal and external maintenance and facilities services for BWUH Ltd buildings as directed. When on shift, be the first responder to building services related faults, mechanical and electrical, and the prompt initiation of appropriate action. To work as directed within BWUH Ltd Operations team in all its areas of responsibility. Summary of responsibilities & personal duties: To fully utilise the building energy management system, Trend, to achieve comfort levels for all customers in line with company energy efficiency management. To advise on requirements for and to oversee the work of contractors supplying or using temporary power for events and conferences. Where appropriate, to carry out installations of this nature; this includes oversight and approval of method statements and Health and Safety requirements To liaise with Production and Technical staff regarding electrical and facilities management matters for events and associated equipment and source of supplies. To carry out inspection, testing and certification of temporary power installations where appropriate

2 To carry out routine statutory compliance checks including, for example, fire alarm, emergency lighting, PAT testing etc. As required, deputise for the Facilities Manager To assist the Facilities Manager in the management of Health & Safety for the buildings, and to carry out regular Health & Safety inspections. To be responsible for plant rooms within both buildings, the service yard at Belfast Waterfront and external areas at Ulster Hall, ensuring good housekeeping and safe storage is adhered to at all times. To co-ordinate the scheduling and work load of the casual maintenance team. To supervise and work alongside the casual maintenance team to undertake a range of non-specialist maintenance and repair tasks to buildings, sites, fixtures and fittings, which specifically includes (but is not limited to) the following: minor carpentry work and replacing and repairing door furniture painting and varnishing touch-ins, repairing minor cracks and holes repairing tables, chairs and other items of furniture erecting and dismantling office furniture the installation, raising and lowering of banners and sails replacing, repairing and fitting curtains, blinds and rails replacing or repairing small areas of vinyl or carpet tiles minor oiling and greasing of door and gate hinges plumbing and drainage issues To carry out physical inspections, to evaluate and escalate appropriately any defects found, to complete and maintain a repair diary and to report any or all electrical, mechanical or building fabric defects to the Facilities Manager immediately. To replace as directed, interior and exterior electric bulbs, tubes, starters and diffusers and maintain them in a clean condition, when appropriate To assist where relevant, with on-the-job coaching and training of new and casual staff. To liaise with, and assist as directed the operations team in the day to day delivery of a broad range of events, all maintenance including floor power services for events. To act as a designated key-holder To undertake such other relevant duties as may from time to time be required.

3 Person Specification Qualifications: Essential: be qualified or time-served electrician in possession of City & Guilds 2360 Parts I and II plus joint industry board (JIB) achievement measurement 2 Parts (AMI and AM2), or equivalent; NVQ Electrical Installation Level 3 or equivalent possess City & Guilds 2380 (BS th Edition Wiring Regulations); Desirable: A recognised building services qualification A recognised Health and Safety Qualification and/or Project Management/Work Planning experience Experience: Essential: Applicants must be able to demonstrate on their application form, by way of personal, specific examples: three years venue and events facilities experience, an awareness of Health & Safety processes and Legislative Compliance Desirable: at least two years relevant work experience advising on requirements for and to oversee the work of contractors supplying or using temporary power for events and conferences. at least two years relevant work experience liaising with Production and Technical staff regarding electrical matters for events and associated equipment and source of supplies. an awareness of working at height knowledge of building energy management systems [BEMS] Shortlisting Criteria: In addition to the above qualifications and experience, Belfast Waterfront & Ulster Hall Ltd reserves the right to shortlist only those applicants who, as at the closing date for receipt of
