N /MC Opening Date: 20 November 2015 Deadline for submission: 16 December 2015, 11 a.m. CET Article 1 (General context) HUB INNOVAZIONE TRENTINO s.c.a.r.l. (HIT) has launched a selection procedure to appoint an outstanding candidate for the position of Director. HIT was created as a new body aggregating four local partners: the University of Trento ( Edmund Mach Foundation ( Bruno Kessler Foundation ( and Trentino Sviluppo ( The vision at the basis of this initiative is to foster the economic growth of Trentino and its industries through the driver of innovation. The mission of HIT is organised on three main priority goals: - catalyzing innovation opportunities for local enterprises and for its stakeholders; - the promotion and valorisation of research results from Trentino s research centres with the aim of favouring local economic development; - the support to local enterprises in their innovation and internationalisation processes within national and European network. Article 2 (Main task and responsibilities) In accordance with Article 30 of HIT s Statute, the Director is responsible for the tasks and responsibilities foreseen by the Statute itslef, available at the following link (in Italian):

2 Article 3 (Shortlisting Criteria) Attributes Essential criteria Desirable criteria 1. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1.1 Master s Degree or equivalent experience 1.a) Master s programmes / specialist courses / PHD in subjects coherent with HIT s mission 1.b) Master in Business Administration at relevant international institutes/universities 2. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 3. TECHNICAL AND SPECIALISED SKILLS 4. PERSONAL SKILLS Several years proven management experience: 2.1 in administrative staff management within complex organisations 2.2 at international level in the context of innovation and knowledge transfer 3.1 Networking ability aimed at developing strategic collaborations and partnerships and at encouraging cooperation programmes between research and industry 3.2 Excellent knowledge, both written and spoken, of Italian and English languages 3.3 Administrative experience in managing budget and staff (e.g. ability to estimate costs and revenues, knowledge of management and legislative tools for budgeting and cost-reporting) 3.4 Project management (e.g. ability to project planning; defining objectives and activities within time, financial and quality obligations: implementing the whole project life-cycle; risks and impacts calculation; Coordinating working groups and managing resources) 3.5 Initiative and proactivity in managing and solving complex problems (problem solving) 4.1 Strategic Vision 4.2 Leadership 4.3 Communication skills and ability in managing negotiation techniques 2.a) Previous experience in working with research spin-offs, start-ups, SME s, industrial joint ventures 2.b) Experience in developing and managing education and innovation projects 2.c) Experience in generating and attracting investment opportunities on the territory through Venture Capitals and Angel Investors 3.a) Technical and technological skills with particular reference to at least two out of the four domains of Trentino s Smart Specialisation Strategy (agri-food, quality of life, energy and environment, mechatronics) 3.b) Ability in performing market researches and analysis and to identify the development directions of emerging technologies 3.c) Ability to identify and develop opportunities for HIT s stakeholders within big projects such as the KICs, the European Commission s Flagship initiatives and the National Italian Clusters 3.d) Knowledge of the context of the Trentino public system

3 Article 4 (Duration of assignment) 1. The duration of the Director s assignment is 3 years and it can be renewed. 2. The Director s activities will be periodically assessed (at least once a year) by the Board of Directors, based on the achievement level of the objectives outlined and agreed at the time of recruitment. Article 5 (Salary) The Director s annual gross salary will be between Euro ,00 and ,00, comprised 80% at a fixed rate and 20% on the Director s achievement of objectives. A further gross salary increase is possible on the basis of particular experiences and skills of the candidate. Article 6 (Selection procedure) 1. After the deadline for submissions, an Evaluation Committee will be appointed to assess the applications in a comparative manner according to the Art. 3 s shortlisting criteria (see above). It will then compile a shortlist of candidates considered most suitable for an interview with the HIT s Board of Directors. These interviews can be scheduled in the days just after the deadline for the submissions. The works of the Evaluation Committee, as well as the Board of Director s interviews, may be performed remotely. 2. A maximum number of five (5) candidates selected by the Evaluation Committee according to the shortlisting criteria (see Art. 3) will be included in the shortlist of candidates admitted to the interview. 3. The Board of Directors will select, on the basis of both the shortlist and the interviews, the candidate(s) profile(s) to send to the Shareholders Meeting for a formal appointment procedure. 4. Those candidates who do not meet the requirements stated in Art. 3 will be informed of their exclusion at the end of the selection process. 5. 4 Article 7 (Application procedure) In order to apply for the position of Director, the candidates will have to send an application containing the required documents to the job@trentinoinnovation.eu, indicating in the subject: Selezione Direttore HIT. The submission of the application request gives explicit permission to HIT Consortium to process personal data, pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/2003 and subsequent amendments, finalized to comply with the completion of the procedure and, in case of the establishment of an employment relationship, for the purposes of managing the relationship itself. The applications deadline is 16 December 2015 at a.m. CET. Each candidate is asked to send the following documents: 1. A brief description to express her/his availability to work full time as HIT s Director, to solve any incompatibility before the formal appointment and to guarantee the availability to travel at national and European level according to the working requirements; 2. Curriculum Vitae, in Italian or in English, with a clear explanation of the education and professional background; 3. A cover letter outlining a development perspective for HIT s next three years on the basis of the objectives illustrated within HIT Statute; 4. Two letters of endorsement. A letter with a proposal for appointment will be sent to the most suitable candidate. She/he will have 10 days to formally accept through a written communication this offer. The contract must be signed within thirty (30) days following the sending date of this proposal for appointment. Failure to accept or sign the contract will invalidate the offer.
