The Marketing and Communication Manager is an influential leader responsible for the development of Phillip Island Nature Parks brand as a Conservation and Eco-Tourism leader on a local, National and International level. The role s commercial focus requires new and innovative international and domestic marketing opportunities that grow visitor numbers and yield across the organisations portfolio. The position fosters strong relationships with Australian and Victorian tourism bodies as well as key customers. To be successful in this position you will need to address the following criteria: Tertiary qualification in Marketing or Business Management; Demonstrated success in marketing a high profile brand, and managing Communications for multiple audiences; Exceptional people management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a group of individuals with different skill sets; Tourism, hotel or event sales and marketing management background, Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired business outcomes; High level of personal credibility, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative and inclusive working style; and Experience with yearly budgets and business plans. 2 Marketing and Communications Manager Position Description ORGANISATION OVERVIEW Phillip Island Nature Parks (Nature Parks) is a leading conservation and ecotourism organisation. Established in 1996 by the State Government of Victoria, the Nature Parks manages over 1,805 hectares of Crown land which includes a variety of coastal reserves, wetlands, and woodlands. Each year the Nature Parks attract over 1.4 million visitors to our five world-class ecotourism attractions including the iconic Penguin Parade, the Antarctic Journey at the Nobbies Centre, Wild Oceans EcoBoat tours, the Koala Conservation Centre and Churchill Island Heritage Farm. The positions commercial focus requires new and innovative international and domestic marketing opportunities that grow visitor numbers and yield across the organisations portfolio. The Marketing and Communication Manager works closely with the Nature Parks operational teams to develop and implement new business strategies that meet market growth and branding objectives. The position, together with the management team, is charged with inspiring our employees and sustaining a positive and collegiate workplace culture, developing our employees and instilling the values within a workplace that reflects our vision.

4 JOB SPECIFICATION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Leadership Lead a professional marketing and communications team (including in-market representation agencies) to deliver outcomes that support a positive organisation culture Maintain a leadership profile in the Victorian tourism industry through supporting key organisations and attendance at significant events Inspire commitment and enthusiasm in employees to undertake new initiatives, develop new skills and improve performance Provide timely strategic advice to the Board relating to marketing, community, partnerships and stakeholder engagement Maintain a positive and proactive profile as a member of the Management team Actively support key activities and initiatives to stop violence against women, men and children through leadership and being proactive in relation to the safety of women and men in the workplace Foster strong internal relationships to influence outcomes and work collaboratively with peer group Strategy Develop and implement Marketing and Communications strategies that align with the Nature Parks Strategic Plan Develop and execute the strategic direction for marketing activities based on identified market growth areas. Engage proactively and collaboratively with peers and internal stakeholders to execute the strategic plan Provide strategic guidance to the Penguin Foundation Board and manage the Penguin Foundation Officer on their behalf. Develop strategies for fund raising utilising the Penguin Foundation and/or sponsorship opportunities Marketing Development and management of Marketing business outcomes Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, corporate partners and potential sponsors for joint marketing and promotional opportunities Develop and implement brand awareness strategies that promote the Nature Parks brand as a leading Conservation and Eco-Tourism organisation. Establish and execute campaigns to meet sales growth targets. Work collaboratively with the Nature Parks Management Team to deliver major events and projects Communications Establish and maintain relationships with key government, corporate partners and potential sponsors for joint marketing and promotional opportunities Develop and maintain an effective community engagement plan for the Nature Parks local stakeholders and broader community. Drive the Nature Parks Publications and Electronic Media including website, applications and social media platforms.

5 Fund raising Budget and Planning Work collaboratively with the Nature Parks teams to develop and execute communications plans for major tourism and conservation projects. Build on the Nature Parks fund raising opportunities through the development of sponsorship, grant and donation opportunities. Work collaboratively with the Penguin Foundation Board to increase funding for conservation activities from sources other than visitor contributions. Develop and manage grant applications and fundraising when required Develop and manage a program of annual promotions to drive market growth and conservation brand awareness. Develop and manage the Penguin Foundation Business Plan People Management Policies and Procedures Health, Safety and Wellbeing Provide leadership to staff to ensure optimum results for both individuals and Nature Parks with a focus on market growth and product brand Actively demonstrate leadership in workplace conduct through personal behaviour and the promotion of a culture within the marketing and communications team that demonstrates conduct consistent with company values and the Code of Conduct Prepare and implement policies, practices and procedures associated with communications Maintain relevance of current and developed policies and procedures Ensure personal compliance of policies and procedures Adhere to safe work method statements Comply with and follow OH&S work practices Identify and report workplace hazards. Actively demonstrate leadership in workplace safety through personal behaviour and the promotion of a safety culture within the marketing and communications team consistent with OHS policy Participate in safety and wellbeing activities. 6 WORKING AND ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS Hours are full time, five days per week and will involve regular work at nights and on weekends. Additional hours will be required as per business requirements within the terms of the contract. Principle place of work is Phillip Island based on an Activity Based Working environment. Role involves frequent travel to Melbourne and occasional interstate and overseas travel. Opportunity to work remotely from Melbourne base with frequent travel to Phillip Island.
