1 ROLE PROFILE Job Title: Senior Head of Partnerships Government (Scotland) Location: Glasgow Introduction to The Prince s Trust Youth charity The Prince s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The Trust s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales s charity has helped 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day. Our Vision: Every young person should have the chance to succeed. The Trust works with around 55,000 young people across the UK. We support young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the regions and countries has a Director and in the countries they are supported by Country Advisory Councils, which are made up of non-executive volunteers. Our funding streams are a mix of private and public sector and this role will lead the Public Sector team in the region driving income from local public sector funders in line with business plan needs. The Trust needs to raise 50m+ each year of which around 18m is currently derived from the public sector/government.

The Prince s Trust s Senior Head of Public Sector Fundraising will lead the regional Public Sector Fundraising team to deliver the Trusts strategic goals by: Growing income in line with ambitious growth targets Ensuring income is aligned with The Trust s operational delivery plans at all times Developing a high quality team of staff and volunteers Supporting the growth of The Prince s Trust s reputation within the youth sector in their respective regions and countries Responsibility: To lead The Trust s income generation from the public sector in their respective region To support Operational Directors and colleagues in their delivery of services to young people To support the private sector fundraisers to maximise fundraising opportunities. To lead The Trust s work in securing a young people stake in the policy priorities within Scottish Government To ensure adherence to Prince s Trust Governance regulations. Budget: Scotland: 4m

3 Detailed responsibilities: To build a high performance public sector income generation team across Scotland focused on maximising The Trust s income from contracted/government funders To lead on the local fundraising and cultivation strategies in the Scotland, maximising income from local, regional and cross-regional initiatives and other intermediaries handling government funding such as prime contractors and other agencies with delivery and budget responsibility To lead on the development of the public sector budget in Scotland in discussion with Deputy Director Public Sector Fundraising, the Country Director, Head of Finance and Head of Contract Management To proactively monitor the local public sector income pipeline, identifying funding gaps, monitoring match funding requirements and reporting significant risks to the Country Director and Deputy Director of Public Sector To ensure all funding is in accordance with the operational delivery plan of The Trust and its programmes, working extremely closely with senior staff in Scotland operations function to develop plans which ensure this and close collaboration between fundraising and delivery staff To ensure appropriate, cost-effective and consistent budgeting for grant funding and price-setting for outcome-payments contracts, working extremely closely with senior staff in the Finance function to achieve this To lead The Trust s regional bidding process to the public sector and ensure consistent and best practice processes for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and contracting with all public sector funders, providing the operations, legal and contract fulfilment functions with timely and appropriate support with which to then take forward the delivery and fulfilment of signed contracts Support the Head of Community Engagement and Communications manager to develop a public sector communications strategy for The Trust in Scotland in order to advance visibility and reputation of The Prince s Trust through the delivery of positive media coverage To ensure funders are appropriately recognised and stewarded and maintain accurate records, maintaining and growing The Trust s supporter database (Raiser s Edge) Any other duties within competence as required.

4 Reporting responsibilities: To supply information as required by the Director Public Sector Partnerships and Country Director PERSON SPECIFICATION The successful candidate will be an experienced individual and a motivational leader, with experience of working at the highest level with CEOs and Directors. They will be commercially astute with considerable financial skills and the ability to network with senior personnel in the public, private and voluntary sectors. They should also be able to demonstrate that they understand the challenges that face disadvantaged young people in their area and have good networks with key political and commercial players therein. They will also have an enthusiasm and passion for the work of The Prince s Trust and a conviction to deliver high positive outcomes for the young people we serve. They should be able to demonstrate that they can deliver results through both direct and non direct reporting teams. Criteria Essential Desirable Knowledge and Skills Advanced understanding of government funding priorities at local, regional and national level Exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to relate to a wide range of people Communications written, verbal and experience of making presentations to diverse, high calibre audiences A high level account manager, able to build influence and increase support from key partnerships to achieve defined targets Have the ability to drive and embed lasting change High level negotiator with the ability to follow through and close complex deals Have high level planning skills to control effective use of resources Experience Demonstrable experience of generating income through partnerships in funding (public and private) and with delivery organisations (e.g. FE Colleges or voluntary sector organisations) Track record of ability to lead, organise and motivate a diverse team to deliver complex projects and partnerships on time and budget. Have an interest in the work of the voluntary sector and have experience of working with volunteers Proven track record in strategic thinking, business planning and managing staff across multiple locations Worked with KPIs and other measures to develop a performance and accountability culture.
