2 PREREQUISITE COURSES: 1 ST SEMESTER E-701: Project Management Projects are temporary undertakings initiated by parent organizations to attain specific objectives with given resources and time. Projects are the means of implementing plans of government and private organizations. Project management is a multi- disciplinary course. Successful implementation of plans largely depends on identification, preparation and execution of feasible projects. The objective of this course is to provide an understanding of concepts, features and types of projects. This course puts main focuses on project environment, stages of project life cycle, functions and responsibilities of project managers. Students will be able to learn the techniques of initiating project ideas, conducting feasibility studies, preparing project proposals, designing project schedule, developing project budget, implementing and monitoring projects. This course also helps students understand how development projects in Bangladesh are initiated, approved, implemented and monitored. E-702: Operations Management The goal of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of value creation process to be followed based on life cycle approach, different operational strategies including customization and mass production. This moreover helps the students learn about designing, analyzing, and improving the whole transformation process, including procurement, production, distribution, warehousing, and retailing, with the objective of creating competitive advantage for the enterprise. The students will also learn the process of capacity planning, location planning based on the consideration of various issues like globalization and geographic dispersions of operations- factors affecting location decisions- dominant factors in manufacturing and services- Layout planningstrategic issues. E-703: International Business International Business is concerned with the dynamics of firm and industry competition in the global economy. This course is designed to make the students understand the competitive dynamics of global industry and the various theoretical frameworks available for analyzing international industries. The course defines the objectives and strategies of international business. The topics covered include gains from trade, costs of trade, and the competitive strategy of the international business. The course considers alternative modes of market entry, including import and export through intermediaries, contracting with suppliers and distributors, strategic alliances and foreign direct investment (FDI). E-704: E-Business As E-business is an interdisciplinary topic encompassing both business and technology, this course is designed to introduce students to various aspects and models for e-business. The students will learn the impacts which e-business is having on society, markets commerce. Students will also become aware of the global nature of e-commerce and how traditional means of doing business will need to change in the electronic age. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to identify and explain the variety of e- business models, explain the benefits and limitations to using e-business models in relation to traditional model, identify and describe the four P s for a specific product and implementation thereof to a specific target market, and so on.

3 E-705: Diversity Management The objective of this course is to make the students learn factual knowledge (terminology, trends, and concepts) of demographic diversity within an international context and acquire the various demographic and diversity concepts, principles and theories relating to domestic and international management and marketing practices, thereby aiding students to become less centric oriented when functioning as a manager. This course will also help students acquire skills at Mapping and Managing Diversity at Workplace, and institutionalizing diversity. Major in Human Resource Management: 2 nd Semester HRM-706: International HRM This course will help the students to develop a broad knowledge of IHRM theories, issues, processes, tools and methods. The student will also be familiar with both the history of the academic IHRM field and future research work in IHRM and will know how to update his/her knowledge in the field. The student will be able to find and evaluate IHRM knowledge and apply relevant results of research and development work to resolving various IHRM issues in a manner that sheds light on the IHRM challenges. HRM-707: Performance and Compensation Management This course is designed to provide basic knowledge of performance appraisal, compensation, and benefits programs. The students will learn the importance of measuring the effectiveness of human resource activities that are designed to enhance individual and organizational performance. This course will reinforce the concept that performance management is not a one-time supervisory event, but an ongoing process of planning, facilitating, assessing, and improving individual and organizational performance. The students will also learn basic compensation concepts and the context of compensation practice and its role in promoting the companies competitive advantages. HRM-708: Human Resource information Systems This course is designed to provide an understanding as to the use of technology in the administration of human resources, and how technologies can contribute significantly to the efficiencies in the management of a company s human capital. To maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace, firms need to balance the resources available to the firm. Effective utilization of HR can help effective utilization of other resources. IT driven automation and redesign of work processes certainly help reduce costs and cycle times as well as improve quality. The students will also learn to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the strategic value of HRIS and how it contributes to organizational success and to review and identify the leading HRIS software available in the field.

4 HRM-709: Strategic HRM The objective of this course is to enable the students to have an understanding of the HR management practices that tailor the various HR programs and activities to obtain their consistency with an organization s overall goal achievement. It will help students in making efficient manpower planning for the workplace and more informed decisions on human resource affairs at work and thereby helping them to develop their skills at managing the human resources productively. HRM-710: Career Management This course provides an understanding of the strategic role that effective career planning and management plays in a successful career and life. As successful career management has been empirically linked to intrinsic and extrinsic career satisfaction, students will be enable to acquire skills at managing career. In line with this the students will first have an understanding of the extant career literature and then will develop an ability to apply it to career path. To this end, concepts, techniques, and processes are explored, with an emphasis on linking theory and research with practical lifelong skill development. Topics covered include self-assessment, decision making, personality, career pathways, interpersonal communication and behavior, as well as social issues surrounding careers. Major in Management: 2 nd Semester MGT- 706: Comparative Management This course will focus on management and different culture and models of comparative management. International transmission of resources and management in different countries will help the student to learn how to face the reality in international perspectives. The students will also get idea about capitalist and socialist management system. MGT- 707: Leadership in Management This course will enhance the student s ability to understand the importance of leadership in managing and the relation between management and leadership. This moreover also will help students learn the influence of various leadership styles including Emotionally Intelligent Leadership. The students will also learn to create a high performing culture within the organization, along with development of an awareness of the various challenges managers are supposed to face and thereby enhancing the students ability to think critically, to participate in a group in order to lead it and to create new possibilities in leadership situations. MGT- 708: Supply Chain Management This course will enable the students to take on the challenges involved in managing supply chains and understand the complexities associated with inter-firm and intra-firm coordination. In addition to the basic challenges and trade-offs associated with reducing costs and increasing responsiveness, the students will also learn other supply chain issues such as sourcing and the need for greater transparency in supply chains. They will also gather knowledge concerning the relationship between supply chain management and sustainability, thereby allowing them to acquire necessary ability to address a variety of supply chain management challenges.

5 MGT- 709: Management Control Systems The course aims at developing the student's ability to understand scientific theories and insights into practical application, analyse management control systems and thus be able to take the relevant decisions regarding organisational performance. After completion of this course the students will be able to learn to design and evaluate management control systems, measure financial performance and control through financial measures, cultures and corporate governance mechanisms, incorporating ethics into the organizational climate. MGT- 710: Managerial Communication Managerial communication is essential at the workplace to achieve targets within the desired time frame. Effective communication reduces duplicity of work. Managers must communicate with their team members to understand and address their grievances and problems. It helps managers to play a crucial role at the times of crisis.
