Established in 1980, our collection includes the UNESCO World Heritage listed Hyde Park Barracks, The Mint, Australia s oldest surviving government building through to the twentieth century Rose Seidler House, which marks the arrival of the modernist movement to Australia. The collection is unlike other museums in that the significance of each is in the whole, and not just in the parts. The awareness of place frames each narrative. Our audiences are local, regional, national and international. Sydney Living Museums is a state cultural institution, reporting to the Minister for the Arts. The Strategy & Engagement Division is comprised of teams managing Strategic Projects, Indigenous Strategy & Cultural Engagement, External Relations, Development & Fundraising, Experience & Learning, Digital, and the Hyde Park Barracks Bicentenary Project. The Division s functions include effective managing SLM s external relations, stakeholder engagement, donors and corporate partners; delivering strategic projects designed to renew our facilities and interpretation at our current sites, develop business cases that consider new at risk heritage sites that could form part of the SLM portfolio; create compelling innovative and engaging education and public programs to grow audiences, enhance perceptions of SLM and increase public appreciation for heritage. The Development & Fundraising Team is responsible for increasing funding from and engagement with donors, corporate partners and members across SLM and, the Foundation for the Historic Houses Trust to support the work of the organisation in caring for and passing on to future generations some of Australia s most important historic buildings, sites and collections. Primary purpose of the role Develop, build and maintain effective relationships with existing and prospective donors, bequestors, foundations, trusts and corporate partners to grow and develop Sydney Living Museums philanthropic strategy delivered through annual philanthropic appeals, events and other fundraising activity. 1

2 Key accountabilities Develop and maintain effective working relationships with existing and prospective donors, Trusts, Foundations, partners and grant making bodies to identify and achieve funding opportunities. Identify and research appropriate Foundations, Trusts and Grant making bodies to ascertain opportunities and applications for funding. Collaborate with the Head of Development & Fundraising to plan, coordinate and implement event management and program communications for donor and partner programs. Collate and supply information to the Head of Development & Fundraising in a timely manner relating to donor and partnership activities for reporting purposes. Interpret and manage financial reporting on donations to update and provide financial reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis for a range of internal stakeholders. Manage and deliver donor and acknowledgement events to increase donor engagement, cultivation and recognition within set timeframes and budgets. Manage and regularly update records through the agency s CRM system to ensure current and prospective donors and other relevant contact information and the grants database is accurately maintained. Manage donor and relevant stakeholder communications, receipting, marketing activities and events in a timely and accurate fashion to encourage repeat donor involvement and represent the agency in a professional manner. Key challenges Participating in forward planning to ensure a diverse range of events and communications are scheduled to develop philanthropic giving and increase collaboration with partners. Managing the delivery of programs, events and activities with sometimes competing deadlines and in an environment of limited resources. Implementing effective evaluation and feedback mechanisms to ensure ongoing quality improvement in the delivery of the Development & Fundraising programs. 4 Essential requirements Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a similar role. Current NSW driver s licence.
