The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) was established to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. Join this dynamic organization and drive your career forward Competitive Salary Package arrangements are available This role: The Program Development team is responsible for leadership in the ongoing development and review on the content, state-wide application and delivery of Deadly Choices programs to ensure the integrity, quality and effectiveness of program brand, implementation and outcomes. The position is responsible for working with a designated member/sub-contracted ACCHO s, in line with the Regional Action Plan and the Deadly Choices Tobacco Cessation procedures manuals to support program implementation and address issues as they arise. The position will also support ongoing development of workforce capability and monitor and review program delivery, content, systems, processes and outcomes. The position will be responsible for: Providing input to the drafting of a detailed Regional Action Plan which provides a structured plan for program delivery and quantitative and qualitative performance targets Providing input to the master regional program schedule Assisting to coordinate communication and marketing requirements and campaigns Providing input to the design, development, review and improvement of the Deadly Choices education program modules Identifying the best practice program delivery processes, promotion and dissemination learnings Supporting the enhancement of referral pathways to ensure clients are supported with addressing tobacco dependency Providing regular team and program activities and statistical reports To be successful in this role, you will have: Certificate IV or above in a relevant VET qualification e.g. Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug, Fitness or equivalent preferred TAE qualifications are highly regarded Senior work experience in education and/or similar preventative health programs is desirable Current Blue Card or willingness to apply Current First Aid Certificate Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) Ability to travel across South East Queensland as required In return, you will be rewarded with the opportunity to develop your career within this organisation that truly values its people. IUIH has developed the Deadly Choices Strategy in combination with consortium members across Queensland and the Deadly Choices brand and programs are widely recognised as a cutting edge health promotion and education initiatives. An injection of Queensland State Government funding from 2018/2019 to extend the DC program across all of Queensland will: - re-establish a DC focus on Healthy Lifestyles, complementing the QH focus on diabetes and chronic disease - complement and be in addition to the existing Tackling Indigenous Smoking program funded by the Commonwealth - expand the DC program to have State-wide coverage, working from 5 Regions ( SEQ, NQ, NWQ, CQ and SWQ) The outcome will be a comprehensive Deadly Choices Healthy Lifestyle Program which is appropriately resourced and implemented across all of Queensland. Role Purpose The Program Development team is responsible for leadership in the ongoing development and review of the content, state-wide application and delivery of Deadly Choices programs to ensure the integrity, quality and effectiveness of program brand, implementation and outcomes. This position is responsible for working with a designated Member/Sub-Contracted ACCHO s, in line with the Regional Action Plan and the Deadly Choices and Tobacco Cessation Procedures Manuals, to:

3 support program implementation and address issues as they arise support ongoing development of workforce capability, through effective monitoring, training and support to regional Deadly Choices teams monitor and review program delivery, content, systems, processes and outcomes, to inform continuous quality improvement, promoting standardisation and increasing integration with ACCHSs practices and programs Role Responsibilities Program Planning and Development At the direction of the State-wide Manager and in collaboration with the Regional DC teams: Input to the drafting of a detailed Regional Action Plans, which provide a structured plan for program delivery and quantitative and qualitative performance targets Input to the master regional program schedule; detailing all school programs, Community Days, ACCHS based clinics and training days Assist to coordinate Communication and Marketing requirements and campaigns. Input to the development of performance indicators and implementation of data collection and reporting processes and systems Input to the design, development, review and continuous improvement of the Deadly Choices education program modules, training resources and materials Support the establishment of Quality and Risk Management processes and systems to support implementation of the Deadly Choices program and strengthening of integrated primary health care responses Identify best practice program delivery processes, promote and disseminate learnings to Regional Teams Support the integration and increased connectivity between Deadly Choices programs with existing ACCHS services and programs e.g. Clinics, Mental Health services, Maternal and Child Health services; documenting procedures as applicable Support the enhancement of referral pathways from Smoking Clinics and Programs into ACCHS based Social Health and clinic based supports to ensure clients are supported with addressing tobacco dependency Support Regional risk assessments and report to the Coordinate on regional/ ACCHS capacity and risks as required Provide regular team and program activity and statistical reports to the Manager and ACCHS management as required Building Regional Capability As directed, schedule and deliver Training and Induction for regional DC Program Officers and Coordinators Support the implementation of a structured workforce development plan that underpins continuous service development and improvement, including standard structures, job profiles, staff training plan and ongoing professional development Input to the development and review of training materials to support training of regional staff Assist in the development of local/regional capability assessments and develop plans to improve capability. Manage the timely provision of support, mentoring and advices to Regional DC Coordinators and DC Program Officers as requested, to assist in building capability. This may include one on one sessions and partnering in program delivery to improve program knowledge, delivery skills, process skills and participant management

4 As directed, undertake short term placements in regional/local teams, to provide direct relief DC Program Coordinators/Officers services, to champion capability development Relationship Management Foster productive working relationships with other IUIH staff in the delivery of seamless support services Actively foster productive working relationships with local networks, government departments, other service providers and suppliers to promote IUIH and remain abreast of emerging issues. Encourage cross-functional collaboration to achieve the best outcome for the organisation. Champion IUIH s Ways Statement both internally and externally to the wider community. Information Management Undertake reporting activities together with other relevant documentation within the scope of your role. Maintain the information flow that supports reliable data and documentation in your area of responsibility. Participate in business planning processes and policy and procedure formulation and improvement within your area of responsibility. Collect data and feedback to assist in the evaluation of Program activities Provide evaluations and reports on ACCHO capacity and risks as required Excellence Seek to understand your role in the larger Organisation system. Maintain own and team s competencies and participate in professional development programs Participate in and lead for direct reports, scheduled performance development Check- Ins and review processes Contribute to effective team performance which ensures IUIH continues to deliver the best service to community in line with program specific accreditations and ISO 9001 standards Safety Report any work related personal injuries/illness or incidents, safety hazards, malfunction of any machinery, plant or equipment. Wear/use and maintain/care for personal protective clothing and/or equipment provided and report any defects. Use lifting equipment and assistive devices as required. Participate in rehabilitation process if injured or ill due to work. Demonstrate leadership in IUIH s Work Health Safety goals and objectives remaining complaint with WHS Legislation and IUIH s policies and procedures. Carry out your duties safely in accordance with your ability and competence. Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by your Manager. IUIH can direct you to carry out duties which it considers are within your

Role Requirements Essential Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card, unless AHPRA registered. Any changes to criminal history should be advised to the supervisor as soon as practicable Current First Aid Certificate Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld) Ability to travel across South East Queensland (SEQ) and Queensland as required Qualifications and Experience Certificate IV or above in a relevant VET qualification e.g. Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug, Fitness or equivalent preferred, TAE qualifications highly regarded Senior work experience in Education and/or similar Community Preventative Health programs, is desirable Desirable Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business The ability to work with other health professionals and organisations Demonstrated understanding of the health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate negotiate and liaise with clients and members of the community, general and technical staff in the provision of professional quality client service Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate health promotion programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander target groups in the target area Demonstrated commitment to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to engage and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to commit to lifestyle change Demonstrated project administration, coordination, planning and evaluation skills Social Marketing skills Demonstrated competence in use of Business technology and desktop applications; internet, word, spreadsheet and database packages Good communication and interpersonal skills
