13 Quality Management is the Systematic Method of : definition planning implementation, and review of processes to provide confidence that a product or service will satisfy given requirements for quality.

Companies must perform to specified requirements Inspection done by those responsible for the work Based on the Inspection and Test Plan Objective evidence maintained Project Manager verifies by audit (random sampling)

20 Total Quality Management Quality is defined by Customers The next process in a system is your customer There must be a respect for people All levels of the organisation must (want & be able to) participate There must be an emphasis on continuous improvement All involved must work within the system (ie: understand it) Management to work with the system to achieve improvement Customers, Suppliers and Contractors are part of the system Work with customers & suppliers to achieve a quality outcome Management must be by measured data, not PHOG (Prophesy, Heresy, Opinion and Guess work) Prevention is better than detection

21 Demings 14 Points Create constancy of purpose toward improvement of product and service Adopt the new philosophy Cease dependence on mass inspection End the practice of awarding business on the basis of price tag alone Find problems Institute training on the job Institute modern methods of supervision of production workers Drive out fear Break down barriers between departments Eliminate numerical goals, posters and slogans for the workforce Eliminate work standards that prescribe numerical quotas Remove barriers that rob people of pride of workmanship Institute a vigorous program of education and retraining Create a structure in top management that will push every day on the above 13 points
