2 P a g e 1 THE POSITION Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Advancement Services is an integral member of an eight-person office charged with securing voluntary support to Ransom Everglades School, an independent, college preparatory day school serving boys and girls in Grades 6 to 12, founded in The primary scope of this position includes management of the fundraising database (Blackbaud s Raiser s 16,800 records), gift acknowledgement (@ 2,000 gifts/year), and the production of timely reports of constituent giving. Additionally, the Director of Advancement Services will conduct prospect research on major prospects with the capacity to support the School s Annual Fund ($1.4 million) and capital needs (current campaign goal of $9.5 million; $7 million raised) at leadership levels. Finally, the successful candidate will provide support to the Advancement staff for the myriad activities of the office, including mailings, special events and reunions. THE SCHOOL The mission of Ransom Everglades School is to provide an educational environment in which the pursuit of honor, academic excellence and intellectual growth is complemented by concern for the physical, cultural and character development of each student. The School provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society. The Middle School campus, serving Grades 6-8, is located on South Bayshore Drive. The Middle School experience lays the foundation for a student s career at Ransom Everglades. In the Middle School, students develop the fundamental skills necessary for successful matriculation at Ransom Everglades. In the Upper School, located on the Main Highway, the skills learned in the Middle School are mastered, talents discovered are refined, and new challenges are revealed. Upper School students pursue a progressively more intense and in-depth curriculum with rigorous core courses complemented by an exceptional selection of over 90 elective courses. Learning that is based on essential questions, problem-solving, and discussion encourages students to take an active role in their educational experience. In the last decade, the transformation to a thinking curriculum at Ransom Everglades has been accompanied by a shift to a pedagogy that seeks to engage students as seekers and creators of knowledge on their own. Mentoring relationships among students and faculty as scholars and lifelong learners in their own right are important aspects of a pedagogy of inquiry where faculty model for students the process of developing methods and paths for seeking knowledge. Ransom Everglades encourages every student to explore their talents outside of the classroom.

3 P a g e 2 Robust programs in the performing and visual arts, a strong interscholastic athletic program, numerous student organizations and clubs, and a distinct service program round out the rigorous preparation of young boys and girls for college and life. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Gift processing Process and document all pledges and payments for all funds, including: unrestricted and restricted Annual Fund, capital campaign, endowment and gift-in-kind accounts Oversee the acknowledgement of all gifts Maintain filing system for all gift records (pledges, payments, thank you letters, acknowledgements) Generate yearly pledge reminders Schedule and execute all monthly and yearly credit card installment payments Download all online gifts Allocate bi-monthly payroll deductions for Annual Fund Update and maintain spreadsheets for regular reports to the School s administration Raiser s Edge database management Oversee all data entry including new donor records, updating constituencies and gift entry Maintain database tables including fund description, constituency codes, appeals and attributes, etc. Insure database integrity Develop and maintain procedures manual for database entry protocol and maintenance Train colleagues on data entry protocol Daily updates returned mail, s, admission updates, media and other sources Update constituencies at the conclusion of each fiscal year Be the chief resource in the office for Blackbaud issues and training Raiser s Edge reporting Deposit reports for all gift deposits to the Business Office Produce and reconcile bi-monthly pledge reports and statistical analysis on donor constituencies Produce month-to-date and year-to-date Raiser s Edge reports for Business office Produce data for proper recognition of donors in Annual Report Provide information required for the annual financial audit Maintain aging of past campaign installment payments Prepare all gift write-offs for approval by the Board of Trustees

4 P a g e 3 Generate and maintain Board of Trustees giving reports and updates Produce reports on campaign and Annual Fund as required Produce all student/parent directory information Responsible for annual and capital gift entry for annual NAIS Stats-Online reporting Produce donor support materials for phonathons, solicitation events and mailings Create donor listings for inclusion in Advancement publications Prospect research Conduct prospect research for capital and Annual Fund major gift prospects Provide capital campaign support Assist Director of Advancement with campaign strategies for leadership and major gift prospects Attend all campaign-related meetings Create and implement capital mailing strategies SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Mailings provide press runs to printers for publications; labels, envelopes or addresses to mail houses Support Advancement staff as needed with special events ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Undergraduate degree Proficiency in database management and specifically with Raiser s Edge software Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software Familiarity with basic accounting principles and procedures PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency in Blackbaud Crystal Reports Independent school experience The successful candidate will be a dependable, conscientious team player whose work rate keeps pace with the demands of a busy office. S/he will be a good communicator, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the School. At all times, the successful candidate will exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
