WHY THIS WILL INTEREST YOUR EMPLOYEES: With greater awareness, and familiarity with all the tools and programs available to them, employees will quickly realize that paying and saving for their health care is easier than they thought. 3 Key messages Regence is all about empowering companies to help employees take charge of their health (and healthcare costs) through smart plans, useful tools, information and insights. Here is what you ll want to communicate in this campaign: 1. Manage health care dollars like an investment People spend so much time looking for ways of investing money to make money. But good health is as good as gold. That s why it s smart for employees to manage healthcare dollars wisely to enjoy the best return on investment of all: long-term health and well-being. 2. There are tax benefits for employees who use FSAs or HSAs Health Care Savings Accounts (HSAs) and their precursors, Flexible Savings Accounts (FSAs), offer a way for employees to pay for qualified healthcare costs while lowering their taxable income, and even save for retirement. They re 100% taxdeductible, and give people a level of control, flexibility, plus a strong sense of ownership. 3. You have options in how to pay for health care Households within certain income parameters can get help paying for healthcare expenses through federal government subsidies. These include premium tax credits, which help pay for monthly premiums, and/or cost sharing reductions, which help pay for copays, deductibles and coinsurance. Households earning $97,000 or less may qualify for the former, while households making less than $60,624 may qualify for both. 4. It s easy to be a smarter consumer Working to stay well practicing prevention and self-care is the best way to reduce costs. The next step for employees is fully understanding coinsurance, deductibles, and out-ofpocket maximums to more costeffectively utilize their health plan. Online tools and popular social media platforms can help them evaluate and find the right doctor or facility, plus compare costs. By reducing the need for care, becoming smarter consumers, investing wisely in their health, and getting any financial help they qualify for, employees will have an easier time paying for healthcare costs.
