International companies can no longer afford to wait impassively for important political decisions and measures in the EU if they do not want to endanger their economic success. This is where EUTOP comes into play: now comprising more than 100 employees and structural advisors, EUTOP has, since 1990, been acting as a structural process partner, supporting the work of private companies, associations and organisations at the institutions of the European Union and selected EU member states. EUTOP is one of the pioneers of lobbying in the EU and has set standards in this field. Our clients are market leaders in their branches of industry. Among others, our clients of many years standing include numerous EURO STOXX, DAX and MDAX corporations, as well as European subsidiaries of companies listed on the Dow Jones index. 4 ABOUT EUTOP EUTOP was founded in 1990 by Dr Klemens Joos. Our Consultants work at our offices in Brussels and Berlin, as well as in Munich, the seat of our headquarters. They have international professional experience in the political field and in private companies. They have a university degree and completed part of their studies abroad. The EUTOP team is non-partisan and belongs to the spectrum of all democratic parties. Moreover, former legislative and executive heads, as well as well-known public figures from many EU member states, act on behalf of EUTOP. 7 THE SMALL, SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES LOBBYING? GOVERNMENTAL RE LATIONS? The strategic communications mix differentiates, inter alia, between: PUBLIC RELATIONS which are concerned with the exterior presentation of the company vis-à-vis the (media) public at large. PUBLIC AFFAIRS which concentrate on strategic information management between politics, companies and society, and address a limited public. LOBBYING which is mainly about the concrete participation in political decision-making processes. GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS as a special form of lobbying. While lobbying has a shortterm focus, governmental relations are conceived for the long term, accompanying the entire decision-making process, possibly over several years. P ERSPECTIVE CHANGE COMPETENCE (ONEPAGER -METHODOLOGY) An interdisciplinary consideration of the problem, from different angles, with the goal of working out a successful solution (change in perspective from the individual perspective to a common-interest perspective). This results in a procedure that has been scientifically empirically developed since 1990, and in which decisions-theoretical, cultural, linguistic, inter-institutional, cross-member state and party-political points of view are fully taken into account. P ROCESS SUPPORT COMPETENCE (PSGR ) The employees and advisors of EUTOP must daily structurally and sustainably support all interfaces, so that the result of the OnePager - Methodology can lead to the success of the specific lobbying project. Experience shows that large projects usually fail on minor details. Organisational faults or misunderstandings can no longer be tolerated in a complex decision-making system. If you have successfully completed your university education in one of the following fields, you should consider EUTOP as your future employer: ECONOMICS OR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION preferably with focus on Europe, possibly in addition: doctoral degree LAW preferably with a focus on European law, possibly in addition: LL.M. or doctoral degree POLITICAL SCIENCES possibly in addition: doctoral degree You are well positioned to work for EUTOP if, besides excellent German, you have a very good command of written and spoken English, possibly also of French and/or another language spoken in one of the other EU member states. You should be communicative and sociable, enjoy doing research and working as part of a team. 14 At EUTOP you have two entry options: as an intern or direct entry as a Junior Consultant /Consultant CAREER AT EUTOP LOCATIONS Berlin, Brussels or Munich DURATION at least three, at most six months REQUIREMENTS from 5th semester / 3rd year of studies APPLICATION anytime REMUNERATION of course EUTOP pays appropriately for the internship INTERNSHIP As an intern you are part of a team headed by a Senior Consultant. You experience first-hand what it is like to work at EUTOP. Typical tasks of interns include preparation of background research for a client project, participation in the development of lobbying strategies and getting to know the institutions from the inside (e.g. by taking the minutes of public committee meetings and parliamentary hearings). In all your tasks, you learn to use EUTOP s OnePager - Methodology and PSGR -based repertoire of methods in the field of governmental relations. LOCATIONS Berlin, Brussels or Munich REQUIREMENTS degree in economics/business administration or law or politics. During your studies, you should have concerned yourself with political Europe ENTRY AND APPLICATION anytime REMUNERATION attractive starting salary with the option of individual bonus agreements JUNIOR CONSULTANT/CONSULTANT As a Junior Consultant/Consultant you work at one location as part of a permanent team headed by a Senior Consultant. In the beginning, your task will mainly be to research background information for client projects. You will be involved in monitoring for our clients and will quickly have direct contact with clients. Your tasks will become increasingly complex.
