4 Apprenticeships Apprenticeships can help organisations to tackle skills shortages by upskilling existing employees or recruiting brand new staff. They deliver real, measurable benefits (see opposite) by boosting efficiency and productivity. An Apprenticeship combines working with the obtainment of a nationally recognised qualification. In most cases the apprentice attends College one day a week and spends the remainder of the week in the workplace.
