ABOUT THE JOB UFA is looking for a Fleet Service Technician to perform preventative maintenance of light and heavy fleet apparatus as well as maintenance on small equipment. This position will also perform tire removal and brake system inspections. This position will also pick up and deliver parts and accessories and drive apparatus to repair shops and various UFA locations throughout SL County and Utah County. 3 ABOUT UNIFIED FIRE AUTHORITY Unified Fire Authority is Utah s largest fire agency, serving over 403,000 residents in the cities of: Alta Cottonwood Heights Eagle Mountain Herriman Holladay Midvale Riverton White City Township Unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County The UFA provides fire, emergency medical and other emergency services to residents and visitors from 23 fire stations and four other facilities including the Salt Lake County Emergency Coordination Center. UFA is the sponsoring agency of Utah Task Force 1, one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams. Other services provided include a Bomb/Arson Squad, a Wildland Fire Division, as well as Heavy Rescue, Water Rescue and Hazardous Materials response. 4 JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Fleet Service Technician works under the direction of the Logistics Fleet Manager The following list describes several of the essential functions of this position. This list may be supplemented as necessary : Perform lube, oil, filter services and minor vehicle maintenance as directed, on vehicles ranging from ATV s, light fleet to heavy fire apparatus. Create work orders for jobs as assigned Work with the Fleet Data Administrator to ensure accuracy of records Ensure accuracy entering data into fleet management software including creating work orders, tracking repairs and inventory control. Obtain estimates, bids, quotes, etc. as needed to complete required paperwork Create MR requests for jobs requiring parts and/or materials as needed Ensure the accuracy of inventory in fleet warehouse, mechanic trucks and on work orders Perform tire removal and replacement Perform brake system inspection Pick up and deliver apparatus to/from repair shops and various facilities Pick up and deliver parts or accessories from vendors or other locations as assigned Attend assigned training courses which may require out of town travel Perform other duties of a similiar nature or level

5 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Possess a valid Driver's License in order to drive a UFA delivery vechicle to a variety of locations not limited to UFA facilities Obtain, and maintain a Commericial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of hire in order to drive and operate fire apparatus in non-emergency situations. Two years of experience in a field closely related KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The preferred candidate will have knowledge of basic heavy apparatus, light vehicle and equipment maintenance, computer skills, fleet maintenance software programs and delivery practices. Additionally, the preferred candidate will be skilled in mechanical aptitude, operating heavy apparatus, operating hand, electric and air tools. The preferred candidate will also be skilled in receiving, storing, maintaining and issuing a variety of equipment, supplies and materials. Additionally, the preferred candidate will have the ability to deliver quality customer service to UFA divisions and personnel, be a self-starter and complete projects with minimal supervision and be able to carry and lift up to 100lbs.

6 IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION The Unified Fire Authority is an independent entity, which operates under a merit system. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) merit position with benefits. Working Environment: Work is performed in shop, fire station bay or in a field service setting. Can be exposed to varying weather conditions. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; however after hours and weekend work is possible. Work activities vary widely including fleet maintenance, field and classroom training, attending meetings and driving. Work may include infrequent response to emergencies. Physical and Mental Job Requirements: The successful applicant will be required to bend, kneel, stand for extended periods of time and climb into and access cramped spaces or crawl under vehicles in order to perform job duties, and will also be required to lift and carry various items (e.g. small equipment, compressors, packed boxes, bundles of hose, tires, etc.) weighing up to 100 pounds. The successful applicant will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
