1 Vision The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management will be the leading international professional society for the stewardship of nuclear materials and related technologies to enhance global security. Mission The Institute of Nuclear Materials Management is dedicated to the safe, secure and effective stewardship of nuclear materials and related technologies through the advancement of scientific knowledge, technical skills, policy dialogue, professional capabilities, and best practices. Goals 1. Be recognized internationally as the leading professional society for the effective stewardship of nuclear materials and related technology 2. Represent the breadth of the profession 3. A strong relationship exists between the policy and technical communities Objectives by Priority Level HIGH PRIORITY: Improve communications with stakeholders to increase awareness of INMM s contributions and activities (Goal 1) Make the INMM website a more effective tool (Goal 1) Broaden membership and increase participation in INMM from underrepresented stakeholder communities and professional disciplines (Goal 2) Reflect broad perspectives and interests when designing events and communications (Goal 2) Identify emerging global security priorities to inform INMM activities (Goal 3) MIDDLE PRIORITY: Diversify membership and increase participation with regard to age, gender, national background (Goal 2) Ensure a balanced ratio of policy to technical papers at annual meetings and workshops (Goal 3) LATER PRIORITY: Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with complementary organizations (Goal 1) Increase collaboration with policy-oriented organizations (Goal 3) 1

5 Goal #2 Represent the breadth of the profession Objective #1 HIGH PRIORITY: Broaden membership and increase participation in INMM from underrepresented stakeholder communities and professional disciplines Dependent on data gathering, metrics will be further defined and expanded. Increase non-u.s. membership by X% Increase non-u.s. professional chapters by 1 per year Increase non-u.s. annual meeting registrations by X% Host orientation event at annual meeting for first time attendees with X% participation Organize an international meeting or workshop in 2018 with X participation Develop content for other under-represented groups (See Goal #2, Objective #2) 5

6 Goal #2 Represent the breadth of the profession Objective #2 HIGH PRIORITY: Reflect broad perspectives and interests when designing events and communications Increase the number and diversity of sessions during the annual meeting based on identified gaps in content Increase the number and diversity of Technical Division and chapter workshops or sessions within existing workshops based on identified gaps in content Identify new audiences and demonstrate increased engagement metrics on social media platforms and other communication channels 6

7 Goal #2 Represent the breadth of the profession Objective #3 MIDDLE PRIORITY: Broaden membership and increase participation with regard to age, gender and national background Increase INMM membership incrementally to 1600 by 2019 (represents approximate growth of about 20% per year) Set diversity benchmarks based on data gathering Develop programming to address programmatic, networking and other identified gaps to encourage participation of under-represented groups Incorporate strategies to enhance diversity into INMM s Membership Recruitment and Retention Plan 7

8 Goal #3 A strong relationship exists between the policy and technical communities Objective #1 HIGH PRIORITY: Identify emerging global security priorities to inform INMM activities Identify 1 or more global security priorities relevant to INMM members annually Undertake 1 targeted action based on the identified global security priorities in each year of the strategic plan, beginning in

9 Goal #3 A strong relationship exists between the policy and technical communities Objective #2 MIDDLE PRIORITY: Ensure a balanced ratio of policy to technical papers at annual meetings and workshops Dependent of results of data gathering, each Technical Division will increase number of papers during the 2018 annual meeting from 2017 base line Each Technical Division will include policy-focused papers in workshops planned in 2018 and beyond Increase number of INMM members representing policy organizations from X% to X% by 2019, based on baseline set in
