This question paper consists of THREE sections, namely SECTION A, SECTION B and SECTION C. SECTION A: SECTION B: SECTION C: COMPULSORY Consists of three independent questions covering all learning outcomes. Answer ALL THREE questions from this section. Consists of four questions covering all learning outcomes. Answer any TWO of the four questions from this section Consider the time allocation for each question when answering the questions. Read the instructions for each question carefully and answer only what is required. Number the answers correctly according to the numbering system used in this question paper. Except where other instructions are given, answers must be written in full sentences. The mark allocation and the nature of each question will determine the length of your answer. Today he is a successful businessman In the light of the above-mentioned quotation, you are required to describe any FIVE significant characteristics of a highly successful entrepreneur. The concept of outsourcing is not a new one. Many companies jumped on board, thinking that they could just hand over their problems so everybody outsourced everything. (10) Give FOUR reasons why you think the support for outsourcing has increased. Explain why this type of business practice failed in the past. (8) (8)

7 Business Studies Read the case study of Matrix Computers CC below and answer the following questions: MATRIX COMPUTERS CC During a meeting on 30 October 2006, members Mike, Zola and Khumalo decided that certain functions had to be performed to capacitate the business. The intended close corporation has to be registered by 15 November 2006 (Week 1) and additional capital of R has to be raised by 23 November 2006 (Week 2). Member responsible Zola. Staffing is still a problem and the sales manager and support staff have to be recruited, interviewed and appointed as from 15 November to 27 November 2006 (Week 1 to 3) in time for the opening of the business on 1 December 2006 (Week 3). Member responsible Khumalo. The business intends to rent a building which has to be fully furnished and the leasing contract, as well as all communication lines, including telephone and internet connections, have to be finalised by 25 November 2006 (Week 1 to 2). Member responsible Mike. Stock has to be purchased, priced and displayed by 25 November 2006 (Week 2). Member responsible Zola. In-service training will take place from 1 December to 22 December 2006 (Week 3 to 5). Member responsible Khumalo Follow the outline of the above-mentioned scenario and prepare a Gantt chart to show the sequence of activities (tasks) needed to start a new business venture in the form of a CC. QUESTION 5 SCENARIO: A loaf of bread is an example of a need-satisfying item that is purchased by almost every household from supermarkets on a daily basis. Bread is manufactured from flour. Raw materials such as wheat are used to manufacture flour. The above scenario indicates the interrelationship between the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. Elaborate, in detail, on the interlinking between the various sectors by using your own examples to expand on this interrelationship.
