External forces content and/ or aims Overview (max 80 words) (customer s behaviour, initiatives of competitors, new leglislation) that shape organisation s operating environment. Internal ambitions and concerns (growth, new processes, product quality, employee competencies, financial resources) that exist within an organisation. Both perspectives are examined, from assessing strategic position and choice to identifying and formulating strategic action. Students are expected to plan their own study time. Assessment hours are indicative of the time to be allocated to revision and formal assessment. Allocation of study hours (indicative) Where 10 credits = 100 learning hours SCHEDULED This is an indication of the number of hours students can expect to spend in scheduled teaching activities including lectures, seminars, tutorials, project supervision, demonstrations, practical classes and workshops, supervised time in workshops/ studios, fieldwork, and external visits. Study hours 44 GUIDED INDEPENDENT STUDY All students are expected to undertake guided independent study which includes wider reading/ practice, follow-up work, the completion of assessment tasks, and revisions. 256 PLACEMENT The placement is a specific type of learning away from the University. It includes work-based learning and study that occurs overseas. TOTAL STUDY HOURS 300 Assessment tasks Details of assessment on this module The module will be assessed by a three-hour paper based Examination worth 100%. There will be 15 minutes reading time available prior to the commencement of the examination. The examination paper will be split into two sections as follows; Section A This section contains one multi-part question based on a case study scenario. The question is worth 50 marks and is compulsory The case study scenario will always include quantitative information,

5 which might be financial data. Section B This section of the examination paper will contain three discrete questions, each worth 25 marks.
