Applicant must submit with application, at a minimum, a high school diploma, a GED certificate, a college transcript or a diploma from an accredited business or vocational school. 2. Applicant must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment. 3. Applicants must have: a. 3 years full-time work experience in secretarial type work if the applicant has only a GED or high school diploma; b. 1 year full-time work experience in secretarial type work if the applicant has graduated from an accredited vocational or business college or possesses another academic degree. 4. Applicants cannot currently be on community supervision (probation) or parole or be serving a sentence for a criminal offense (See Job Description for more detailed information). 5. After the initial screening of applicants, the top candidates will be required to submit to testing in keyboarding, word processing, 10-key and data entry. An applicant must meet the following minimum scores for an interview: a. Typing/Word Processing: 40 wpm with 95% accuracy b. 10 Key and Data Entry: 6,200 KPH with 95% accuracy 6. A criminal history (NCIC and TCIC) background check will be conducted on all applicants selected for interview. A criminal record check by fingerprint, a driving history and a pre-employment drug test will be conducted on the applicant selected for the position. Preference will be given to applicants who speak Spanish fluently, all other qualifications being equal.

3 WICHITA COUNTY COMMUNITY SUPERVISION AND CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT (CSCD) POSITION DESCRIPTION RECEPTIONIST JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Support Staff Supervisor, the Receptionist is responsible for performing receptionist duties for the department, both in person and by phone. This position is required to exercise diligence in maintaining accurate financial records and in accurately handling money collected. The Receptionist also performs cashier duties when assigned and in the absence of other cashiers assigned this function. This position performs job in compliance with Sections 42.A of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Chapters 76 and 509 of the Government Code, standards of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Community Justice Assistance Division (TDJC-CJAD), and policies and procedures of Wichita County CSCD. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Receive persons daily who visit the CSCD in person including, but not limited to the general public, attorneys and offenders. 2. Accurately log in the presence of persons reporting to the office each day on official business noting time, date, and staff member requested. 3. Answer phone calls daily, routing to proper staff member or to the voice mail of specific staff. 4. Perform fiscal duties daily as outlined in the internal control policies and procedures. 5. Serve as relief and secondary cashier as assigned. 6. Receive and accurately make change daily for adult service fees, restitution, and any other court-ordered payments from offenders on community supervision and issues receipts for funds collected. 7. Accurately maintain and balance cash drawer daily according to department policy. 8. Accurately enter daily necessary data in the department s automated case management system. 1

4 9. Activate the department voice mail/greeting prior to the close of the department at noon and 5 p.m. 10. Maintain orderliness of the waiting areas daily. 11. Responsible for locking of the front office door at noon and 5 p.m. 12. Maintain forms cabinet monthly and supply cabinet for assigned area. 13. Serve as department runner daily to the Courthouse. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. Graduation from an accredited high school plus three (3) years full-time work experience in secretarial work, or 2. Graduation from an accredited vocational or business school with a minimum of one (1) year, full-time work experience in secretarial work OTHER REQUIREMENTS 1. Must not have any pending charges for any criminal offense or have an outstanding warrant. 2. If the applicant was convicted or subject to any deferred adjudication, suspension of sentence, judicial finding of guilt, or any other penalty imposed by court, or agreed upon by the accused, more the five (5) years must have elapsed since the person was discharged from the criminal justice system. (Class A or B misdemeanor or their equivalents). 3. SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Possess and demonstrate a sound knowledge of business correspondence and an ability to proofread for grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. 2. Possess the ability to perform basic accounting and mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy with ability to handle and manage large amounts of cash, count change, and balance cash drawer. 3. Possess knowledge of office procedures and organizational skills necessary to maintain complex, detailed records and prepare reports from those records. 4. Possess ability to work independently on difficult or complex clerical tasks. 2

5 5. Possess knowledge of statutes, TDCJ-CJAD standards and department policies and procedures 6. Type a minimum of 40 words per minute and perform data entry and 10-key by touch with 95% accuracy. 7. Possess and demonstrate personal computer skills and learn quickly to use the software programs of the department. 8. Possess ability to maintain cooperative, professional working relationship with victims, offenders, criminal justice personnel and colleagues. 9. Possess ability to communicate effectively with diverse and sometimes irate individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency. 10. Job is performed in office environment which requires long periods sitting at desk and working at computer workstation and excessive telephone duties. OTHER REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be mobile within an office environment (i.e. lift case files, maneuver around file cabinets, bend, sit for long periods, reach, stoop, pull, push, stand, walk, speak, hear, identify offenders and observes their actions, read, write, file, type, use telephone, fax machine, and computer). 2. Must be able to tolerate a moderate to high degree of stress. 3. Must be able to give verbal and written instruction. 4. Must be able to initiate and maintain legible documentation in a timely manner on a continual basis.
