Everyone in society has the absolute right to be treated with dignity and respect, with the same chances and responsibilities. I originally commenced my career as a HR professional, with over 10 years experience in strategic and operational HR roles in the charitable sector with 7 years experience at Senior Management level including leading Corporate Services as part of the Senior Management Team for Thera Trust, the charity that leads the Thera Group of Companies. I have worked in social care for more than 15 years, and have held Executive Director roles with the Thera Group of Companies in the East Midlands and the South West. I have recently established a HR, Health and Social Care Consultancy in order to support individuals, families and organisations to achieve their goals. I believe that people with disabilities should be in the driving seat when it comes to planning and designing the support that they want and need to achieve their goals and ambitions. As Managing Director for Thera South West, we supported more than 120 people with a learning disability in a variety of ways including at home, at work, on holiday and in their local community. Thera South West employs over 250 staff who work closely with the senior management team to deliver Thera's vision and provide high quality support and services for people. Prior to this I worked as Managing Director for Uemploy, which is a company designed and set up in response to people with a learning disability having control over the money that pays for their support and using this to find, recruit, chose and employ their own staff. Uemploy is a registered recruitment consultancy, set up over a period of several years using a project based approach and, most importantly, the involvement of people with a learning disability and families in developing tools, guidance and information resources. In order to set up this organisation I completed qualifications with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and became an accredited member. Previously I have worked operationally with people as Interim Managing Director for Thera East Midlands, who provide support for 400 people in a variety of ways including at home, at work, on holiday and in their local community. Leading a senior management team, to deliver Thera s vision, Thera East Midlands employs over 660 staff who provide high quality support and services for people to help them live the lives they choose.

Thera East Midlands Interim Managing Director June 2013 March 2014 As Managing Director, I was responsible both operationally and strategically for the whole of Thera East Midlands, ensuring that everyone we support gets the support they need, by staff they know, and that they are encouraged to achieve their goals and dreams. I worked closely with the board and staff at all levels to ensure we are achieving the outcomes people want. I led the management team to ensure the long term stability and development of Thera East Midlands. Thera East Midlands employs over 660 dedicated members of staff that each play an important role in making sure that we provide quality care and support for people with a learning disability. Key Achievements and Responsibilities: Compliance and safeguarding; Overseeing the performance of the subsidiary using a range of performance information and analytical tools; Formulation of strategic plans; Planning and management of risk across the organisation; Management and monitoring of a range of organisational budgets; Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the legal frameworks, within which Thera works; Implementation and monitoring of systems, processes, policies and procedures to meet legal and regulatory requirements; Creation and implementation of innovative strategies and plans to improve the quality and extent of provision of support / services for people with a learning disability; Implementation of Thera s personalisation strategy, and in particular: o Introducing Iplanit to help people with their person centred planning; o Working in partnership with NDTi and Embrace on community connecting and facilitating the building of circles of support; o Implementation and continued development of a person centred learning & development approach; Embedding new operational management structures that support our personalisation strategy;

4 Redeveloping existing day opportunities to move away from fixed bases and utilise community opportunities to expand the support we provide during the day - developing natural support networks and social enterprise; Increase company membership; Develop an improved employee engagement strategy; Supporting more people and working in new areas. Uemploy Managing Director April 2013 June 2015 Alongside other roles, I have led on the set up and development of Uemploy, which is a recruitment consultancy, supporting people with a learning disability and their families to find, recruit and employ their own Personal Assistant. This has involved: Conducting market research; Developing the business case and financial plans; Recruitment of a Uemploy consultant; Developing the project plan and implementing these; Preparing for launch events; Writing operating policies, procedures and tools; Developing IT solutions; Developing marketing material; Tenders and applications to funding streams; Developing the market for Uemploy, including o Building expertise (tools, information, guides, legislation, factsheets, procedures, equipment, systems and processes etc) o Building credibility and confidence in a bespoke service o Marketing and raising awareness of people's rights o Attending and hosting events, meeting commissioners, families and other stakeholders Working directly with employers and their families on an operational basis. Thera Trust Head of Corporate Services May 2011 June 2013 As Head of Corporate Services, I led and oversaw Human Resources (including Learning and Development / Payroll / HR Administration), IT, Facilities, Health & Safety, Information Management and Contracts departments, working with each Department Manager to achieve key strategic objectives and provide corporate services to a group of subsidiary companies. 5 Part of the key project team leading on Pay Review and in particular, changes to terms and conditions that better reflected the aims of personalisation and the future demands of the organisations customers; Implementation of Operational Process Review and new system of contract hours monitoring and reporting; Overseeing the implementation of Business Improvement Project, including new IT systems / software and processes to better serve our customers in the future as set out in our Personalisation strategy; Overseeing and working with a specialist / consultants on information flows and Performance Management culminating in a comprehensive monthly performance reporting pack for management teams; Provision of specialist HR and employment law support and advice. Working with Directors in the planning, consultation process and implementation of the Operational Management Review; Formulation and delivery of Thera Trust s annual work plan aligned to Thera Group Strategic and Business Plans; Managing and monitoring a range of organisational budgets, internal and external contracts; Creating and implementing innovative strategies and plans to provide new services to people with a learning disability and improve existing services; Overseeing business continuity planning, fleet management, leasing, insurance, property and the provision of specialist advice and support to people with a learning disability on a range of issues; Ensuring that Health and Safety systems are in place, implemented and monitored; and that professional specialist advice is sought to manage identified risks within the organisation.
