PWN Summit on Gender Balance Best practices in Oil and Gas October 6, 2016 SPEECH Hosnia Hashim, DCEO NK (KOC) SALUTATIONS Mr. Nizar Al-Adsani and my dear PWN Executive and Operations Committee members The Ambassador of Canada in Kuwait, Her Excellency, Ms. Martine Moreau Dear Guests Ladies and Gentlemen SPEECH Few things in my professional life have provided me with more satisfaction, than to see the growth and accomplishments of the Professional Women Network. It is with a big sense of proudness that I see the young women in every K-Company, embracing our desired profile for all women in the oil sector of Kuwait, which is women who are Self-Empowered With a No-Barriers Attitude Motivated With an Excellent Communication and Network Coached by our excellent role models 1 P age

When we started the PWN initiative, in 2009 within KOC, we could hardly imagine how pioneering several of our initiatives would be for the advancement of women in the oil sector of the region, and for the enhancement of the work environment for women (and men!) in the K- companies. I am absolutely proud that Bo Fahjan, Nizar Al-Adsani, has highlighted with the top management two of the most important achievements of our recent activity: The statistical review of gender percentages in all K-companies in relation to work job descriptions The uplift of the field facilities of KOC to accommodate women in Gathering Centers, Booster Stations and Drilling rigs To these results, I would like to add the more than 12 workshops we have held over the years, 6 executive panels, 2 surveys, and 1 Town-Hall session, that enabled us in the PWN to steer the efforts to where they were more needed: to the enhancement of the work conditions of women in the K-companies and their own self-empowerment at work. The advancement of women in the K-companies benefits from this awareness raised by PWN, and this year 2016, we gladly welcomed the appointment of 4 female DMDs! (WAIT FOR APPLAUSES?) The appointment of women for top leadership roles enable the availability of role models, that inspire and motivate the young women in our workforce to reach to become the best they can be in managerial or technical roles. 2 P age

Our roadmap for this year 2016/17 and onwards is grounded on a STRATEGIC VISION, and encompasses A pilot project for women engineers in operational roles at KNPC A Series of Master Classes and Workshops in conjunctions with our partners, IOCs, Service Companies and consulting firms. Today s SUMMIT is one of the most relevant activities in our year plan, and I am very glad to see today, the crystallization of so many efforts of Co-Coordinators, Shamael Al-Sharikh, from KPI and Nadia Al-Zeabot, of KOC, who led a team composed by members of all K-companies, supported by KPC PR Team. The NOCs in the world have a high commitment and responsibility, as main sources of income to their nations. In Kuwait, KPC and its subsidiaries is very proud to fulfil this mission, promoting the best in the workforce, even in the current situation of low-price of oil, which seems to have become an extended scenario. And how is that workforce, that we want to enhance, support and promote? A characteristic we share with all NOCs, and in particular to those within the GCC, is that we have a YOUNG COMPANY profile, with the majority of our workforce below the 35 years of age. The questions and challenges this brings to the leadership are: 3 P age

How do we motivate this new generation, the Millennials, to reach their best in the oil sector? What workflows, settings, and policies do we implement to ensure fair conditions for men and women at the workplace? How do we support women and dual-career couples to balance work-family? And finally.. how do we engage with the GREATER KUWAIT, to enable the participation of more and more women in activities related to the oil sector, as employees or entrepreneurs, in the public or private sector?? The future of Women in the oil industry is bright, and secured by the need we have of capturing all the TALENT AVAILABLE. With a YOUNG PROFILE as a company, and with more than 60% of females in the fresh graduates cohorts from our universities.cannot be otherwise! It is then pertinent,. and I would say imperative that we activate the PWN s actions in pro of the advancement of women, to do more, expanding our actions within the corporation. The natural evolution of PWN will bring more specific projects and activities, and I am very much looking forward to the moment when the actions and initiatives pertinent to Diversity and Inclusion have a formal framework in our corporate ecosystem. Our story of success, including this very SUMMIT would not have been possible without the endorsement of our TOP MANAGEMENT, and I am truthful to the 4 P age

reality when I say that without Bo Fahjaan s support, endorsement, and even.push, our results would not have been so shiny! The support of the leadership is very meaningful, and our gratitude is expressed with sincerity. Finally, I would like to have a word of thanks and appreciation for the participation of the esteemed Ambassador of Canada to Kuwait, her Excellency, Madame Martine Mureau, as well to Shell, Schlumberger, Fluor, Halliburton and Baker Hughes. Your insights will greatly expand our perspective, to envision new ways to GROW and ENHANCE the conditions for our female (and male!) workforce to collectively be better, reaching new heights of INCLUSION. My thanks go also firstly to my dearest Colleague, Badria Abdul Raheem, Chair of the Operations Committee, to Shamael Al-Shairkh and Nadia Al-Zeabot, Coordinators of this Summit, to our esteemed FACILITATORS, from several K- Companies, as well as to the support provided by PR KPC. We will hold today an Executive Session and 4 Deep-Dive Sessions, in a very tight agenda, that I encourage you to follow in every detail, gaining from this event the most you can. Thanks 5 P age
