1 Section Manager Production ROLE PROFILE GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS Business Unit Anglo American Platinum Date June, 2015 Location Mining Operations Amandelbult Complex Job band GBF 6/ PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The SECTION MANAGER has the Legal accountability with a , and or a appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is required to assist the manager in the control, management and direction of the underground workings of the mine, as stipulated by the regulations. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that the operational process in a defined area of the mine operates effectively through the; Control of the working environment and promotion of Zero Tolerance principles. Proper allocation, development and utilisation of human resources. Utilisation of new technology, financial, logistical and material assets. Management of the process of ore body exposure and stripping and the Administration of these functions, and is, Accountable for the well-being of the workforce and the sustained profitability of the operation, with a time frame of 1-3 years. WORK OF ROLE (INCLUDING AUTHORITIES AND OUTPUTS) Work of Role 1. A safe working environment 1.1. Implement and support Zero Tolerance principles. Provide exposure to training in Zero Tolerance principles. Respond to deviation from required behaviour with guidance or discipline. Re-enforce positive behaviour. Monitor, analyse and respond to accident/incident reports and safety audits. Output 1.2. Maintain section compliance to standard procedures and Specifications. Carry out regular site inspections. Identify and highlight poor housekeeping. Identify and respond to sub-standard work specifications and practices. Provide guidance and details on required specifications and work practice to team. Discipline and/or provide formal training where required Maintain section compliance to legal requirements. Carry out regular site inspections. Inspect and sign off legal records of site inspections, reports and written instructions. Check compliance to necessary administration of certificates and permissions required for specialised tasks. Report as required to Senior Management 2. A quality product at required quantities Plan and schedule development and stoping process. Attends, contributes to and is informed by production meetings for the area. 2 Quantifies development targets and plans the process for the achievement thereof with the development team. Quantifies stoping targets and plans the process for the achievement thereof with the stoping team Plans and co-ordinates equipping process. Assess and quantifies equipping needs for the mining of exposed reef with stoping and logistics teams. Co-ordinates interaction between logistics and mining. Supports the sourcing of required equipment and materials Maintains compliance to development/stoping/equipping targets for Section. Carries out regular visits to site and responds to identified deviations from planning. Monitors daily production reports and responds to identified shortfalls or negative trends. Consistently identifies and supports positive results. 3. Resource utilisation at budgeted levels 3.1. Defines targets. Attends, contributes to and is informed by production meetings for the area. Consults with and receives forecasted needs and cost limitations from Production Manager and Accountant. Plans and schedules mining process with team. Defines projected costs and sets budget to predetermined store rates Maintains compliance. Monitors and analyses cost returns. Consults with appropriate teams regarding cause and effect of positive and negative trends. Initiates alterations to, and/or different approaches to use of resources Veto expenditure when required Reduces overall running costs of section. Actively pursues new technology and improved procedures with team and suppliers. Supports research projects 4. A motivated and economically effective workforce 4.1. Monitors and responds to indicators of worker morale. (Absenteeism, labour turnover, grievance and disciplinary actions) Obtains and analyses relevant statistics. Consults with teams and individuals about the cause and effects of identified trends or specific incidents. Obtains from team, and/or initiates appropriate response. Disseminates information to own team and other sections of the Production Area. 5. Completed section administration 5.1. Maintains legal compliance. Examine and sign off legal inspections and records from sub-ordinates on a daily basis. Ensure the required legal appointments in the area of responsibility are in writing and recorded as required. Ensure that required documentation for the performance of specialised tasks is available and up to date Maintains compliance to Legal and Management specifics. Supervises the completion and forwarding of all required production performance statistics to appropriate end users. Completes and forwards proper documentation for the requesting of services from Mine Technical Services Departments 5.3. Maintains budgetary controls Obtains and confirms section budget objectives. Monitors and responds to unit cost reports Approves on requests for resources Administers Human resources Performs and records briefings as specified. Maintain proper records of meetings Monitors the documentation and process followed for the control of discipline in the section.
