With more than 270 staff and volunteers, the Centre provides a diverse range of health and community services, including residential aged care for Sunbury and surrounding communities. The Centre receives funding from a range of sources including Commonwealth and State governments. Sunbury Community Health operates with a multidisciplinary team structure and staff are required to incorporate activities relating to health promotion, community consultation, early identification and intervention and individual and community capacity building within their role. Staff are expected to participate as a member of SCH team and provide services within a social model of health that recognises the effect of social, economic, cultural and political factors and conditions on health and wellbeing. SCH is committed to improving the health of our community and being accessible to all, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, people with special needs and other socially disadvantaged groups. 4 Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Executive and Management Functions 1.1. Work with the CEO and Executive Team (and Board where required), to develop and achieve the organisation s strategic objectives 1.2. Monitor progress against strategic, operational, financial and contractual targets and ensure strategies, plans and corrective actions are in place to achieve these targets 1.3. Provide regular reports to the Board, through the CEO detailing progress and achievements of the program and services within the area of responsibility in accordance with the organisation s ongoing development of a Balanced Scorecard People Management, including; Recruitment Supervision Performance management Mentoring new staff, students and volunteers Ensuring occupational health and safety 1.5. Budget responsibility Working with CEO and Executive Manager, Finance to review Strategy Unit Staffing Profile Approving expenditure within budget and delegation limits Monitoring expenditure against budget Identifying opportunities for income generation and/or project funding as appropriate 1.6. Oversee the management of community programs, including; Boilover Inclusive Theatre, Sunbury Men s Shed and Sons of the West men s health initiative through: Program planning, design and evaluation Team member work load management Addressing client and community feedback Liaison and reporting to funding bodies Development, documentation and review of Unit specific work instructions 2. Leadership in Community Development and Building Social Fabric 2.1. Drive the organisation s strategy and implementation of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) and fostering community leadership 2.2. Engage in communities of practice along with national and international ABCD learning sites to contribute to the ongoing development of ABCD approaches Initiate, lead and co-ordinate strategic partnerships with the community, local government, other nongovernment organisations and community health policy bodies to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for our community Seek and identify opportunities to link and share organisational skills and resources with our internal and external communities 3. Collaborative Community Action 3.1. In collaboration with partners, staff and local community members, including the aboriginal community, community networks, associations, service providers and community groups, identify opportunities and initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of our community In collaboration with the community and internal and external stakeholders oversee the development of organisational advocacy position statements and community led action plans. 5 4. Prevention and Integrated Health Promotion 4.1. Lead organisation wide population health and local needs analysis, Integrated Health Promotion planning and reporting 4.2. Drive community based prevention and population health campaigns To act as resource person within the organisation, regarding, population health, prevention, community and stakeholder engagement, evaluation and population health policy and advocacy. 5. Marketing and External Communications 5.1. Develop and oversee all aspects of marketing and external communications including; Overall Marketing Strategy and associated marketing plans Media relations On-line communications (website and social media) Publications 5.2. Drive SCH s approach to becoming a health literate organisation 6. Community Engagement and Events 6.1. Implement innovative listening techniques to monitor community awareness and sentiment in relation to SCH and associated programs and services and respond appropriately as required Oversee SCH s involvement in a broad range of local community events and initiatives 7. Volunteerism 7.1. Support the strengthening of social fabric by promoting volunteerism and skill sharing within the community 7.2. Oversee SCH s volunteer engagement program to ensure best practice community engagement and volunteer experience Ensure effective and efficient management of SCH volunteer engagement program and processes, including; recruitment, orientation, compliance systems, workplace health and safety, 8. Grants and Fundraising 8.1. Develop and oversee all aspects of the organisation s strategy and plans in relation to fundraising and engagement with the philanthropic sector. 9. Other 9.1. Subject to resources and competing priorities, coordinate organisation wide approaches to health, wellbeing and social research including development and utilisation of effective partnerships with tertiary education institutions and other research bodies Other duties as required to achieve position or organisational objectives KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Essential 1. Experience in leading a professional team in the fields of Community Development, Community Engagement and/or Preventative Health/Population Health/Health Promotion 2. High level conceptual, planning and influencing skills. 3. Demonstrated ability in organisational leadership and proven ability to manage within complex environments Page 5 of 6

High level relationship, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to operate in a collaborative manner within the organisation, with funding bodies, clients, key stakeholders and the broader community 5. Highly develop written and verbal communication skills, including management and Board level reporting 6. Demonstrated people management skills, including job and project design, performance management and reporting, conflict resolution and communication 7. Demonstrated capacity to identify funding opportunities, oversee budget and project planning and management, particularly in an environment of budget constraint 8. Demonstrated commitment to the highest level of ethical conduct and alignment with the values of SCH Highly Desirable 1. Experience in leading a professional team in the fields of Marketing, Communications, Fund Raising and/or Research. VARIATIONS TO CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 2. An understanding of contemporary issues facing Community Health particularly for a medium sized Not for Profit company 4.
