1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Hours: Recovery College Co-ordinator hours per week to be worked flexibly in line with College needs Salary Scale/Grade: 26,335; Health in Mind scale point 31 Responsible for: Responsible to: Contract length: Scottish Borders Recovery College Depute Chief Executive 2 years; may be extended if further funding is secured Based: Galashiels with some travel throughout the Scottish Borders Purpose of Job To lead on the development and delivery of a Recovery College within the Scottish Borders; ensuring that funding requirements are met, outcomes and outputs are monitored and evaluated and that the service is delivered within budget. To co-ordinate the college courses, through co-production with local partners, students and potential students. To manage the Recovery College staff comprising 2 Personal Learning Tutors and an Administrator. Main Tasks 1. Service Delivery 1.1 To plan, develop and deliver a Recovery College within the Scottish Borders, which reflects the principles of Recovery Colleges and is responsive to the needs of students. 1.2 To ensure that recovery principles underpin every aspect of the design, development and delivery of the Recovery College. 1.3 To ensure that the development of the Recovery College is informed by research evidence and current good practice.

2 1.4 To identify feedback required, and gather that feedback from service users and stakeholders using it to improve service delivery. 1.5 To apply standards which reflect those of and monitor/evaluate their achievement/impact, ensuring that remedial action is taken where they fall below the agreed minimum. 1.6 To ensure that systems are in place to manage/minimise agreed risk at individual, team and service level 1.7 To ensure that the Recovery College meets the targets outlined in the service specification/ funding agreement and to report regularly as required on progress towards achieving those targets 1.8 To monitor and evaluate the Recovery College against outcomes agreed with funders 1.9 To develop relationships with other Recovery Colleges with a view to sharing learning and good practice. 2. Co-production 2.1 To establish and Chair a Recovery College Steering Group 2.2 To ensure the College Prospectus and courses are co-produced by with the Recovery College Steering Group and potential students; ensuring that it meets local needs and reflects both local and national priorities. 2.3 Ensure good communication and liaison with key stakeholders including delivery partners. 3. People Management / Team working 3.1 To recruit, induct, manage, motivate and develop staff and volunteers with lived experience of mental health difficulties, in keeping with Health in Mind policies, ensuring that they are appropriately skilled and able to fulfil the changing requirements of their roles. 3.2 To develop and promote effective team working in the Recovery College team and across Health in Mind. 3.3 To link with Scottish and UK Recovery College networks 4 Resource Management 4.1 To monitor expenditure budgets, in keeping with funding requirements, highlighting concerns to the Depute Chief Executive.

3 4.2 To gather and input service information as required into the organisation s database and produce reports as agreed. 4.3 Together with the Depute Chief Executive/ Development Manager identify development opportunities and contribute to funding applications. 4.4 To ensure appropriate resources are available to students to support their learning. 4.5 To liaise with key personnel within The Hive and local community venues 4.6 To ensure all those delivering courses are thoroughly assessed and monitored, and that learning outcomes are met. 5 Communication 5.1 To contribute to improved communication in the team and across Health in Mind, through providing and sharing information appropriately, for example, through team briefing. 5.2 To represent the Recovery College and Health in Mind at appropriate external meetings and effectively promote them. 5.3 To be aware of external trends, opportunities and threats in relation to the Recovery College and the wider work of Health in Mind. 6. Support, Supervision and Development 6.1 The post holder will receive regular support and supervision from the Depute Chief Executive 6.2 The post holder will have an annual appraisal which will include identifying learning and development needs 6.3 The post holder will have access to Health in Mind training calendar and external training in line with identified need. 7. Knowledge 3.1 Understanding of good practice when providing support to vulnerable adults 3.2 Understanding of the principles of Recovery Colleges 3.3 Understanding of recovery in through education and self-management 3.4 Good understanding of the sensitivities of working with people who experience physical and mental health difficulties, employment issues, substance misuse issues and challenging life experiences 3.5 Good understanding of organisations, activities and groups in Scottish Borders 3.6 Have an understanding of the change process and how to elicit and maintain changes in behaviours 3.7 Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, with post qualifying experience 4.
