1 JOB DESCRIPTION Peer Support Development Worker The Rehab Group is a charity that provides services for over 20,000 adults and children, and champions the value of diversity and inclusion for people with disabilities or disadvantage in their communities throughout Ireland and the UK. We work with people with disabilities, people on the autism spectrum, people with mental health difficulties, people who are disadvantaged in some way in the labour market, and people who want a fresh start. JOB PURPOSE With a focus on achieving the personal goals of participants and contributing to the development of the service, you will maximise the independence and quality of life of young people with an acquired brain injury/neurological condition who live within the Greater Glasgow area. You will have lived experience of an acquired brain injury/neurological condition and through sharing wisdom from your own experience will inspire hope and belief that rehabilitation is possible. 2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/KNOWLEDGE Formal Education / Training Include any specialised education and qualifications needed to do the job. Work Experience Clarify the minimum years of total work experience and other relevant work experience required to do the job Skills and Knowledge Include any specialised skills or knowledge needed for the job. None Previous or current experience working with individuals with an Acquired Brain Injury/Neurological Condition (Desirable) Experience of being in a supportive and enabling role (Desirable) Lived experience of Acquired Brain Injury/Neurological Condition (Essential) Practical knowledge and understanding of issues facing people with an Acquired Brain Injury/Neurological Condition (Essential) Awareness of the legal rights of the participants using the services in relation to equality and disability (Desirable) Competent in use of standard office IT software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook Powerpoint). (Essential) Appreciation of the community resources within the geographical location of the post and key partners (Desirable) Page 2 of 6 2

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job Area (What is done, and to what, and why) Establish supportive and respectful relationships with participants using the service in order for them to achieve their personal goals and aspirations whilst maintaining professional boundaries Enable participants identify their own rehabilitation goals in line with their programme progression plan to assist them to achieve their individual outcomes within the remit of the SVMC service Liaise with carers, other health professionals, statuary and voluntary agencies to enable the support needs of the participants to be met Undertake appropriate administrative duties to assist the team in delivering effective and timely care, e.g. data inputting and updating participant progress records Liaise with colleagues and management to share ideas about ways of achieving rehabilitation goals, drawing on personal experiences in order to further advance the levels of support provided by the service Support participants in line with their personal requirements to attend appointments/meetings/activities of their choice to enable them to achieve outcomes as defined within their progression plan Support colleagues with marketing activity in order to maintain appropriate levels of referral into the service Page 3 of 6 3
