1 POSITION: Youth Department Director LOCATION: Red Cliff Youth Center JOB DESCRIPTION SALARY: $16.00 per hour, 40 hours per week SUPERVISOR(S): Family Services Division Administrator THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME EXEMPT POSITION JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise youth center staff scheduling, planning, coordinating, and facilitating structured youth orientated activities. This position is also responsible for site management of the Youth Center facility as well as to coordinate and collaborate with other community/tribal/ County agencies on youth orientated activities. The Red Cliff Family service division incorporates the seven traditional grandfather teachings into its service delivery, philosophy and practice, those teachings are, Love, truth, honesty, respect, courage/bravery, humility, and wisdom. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Supervise Youth Center staff and schedule Youth Center staffing hours. Coordinate, and oversee day-to-day operations of the Youth Center staff and facilities. 2. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate structured youth orientated activities. These activities are to be carried out whenever possible at the Youth Center during regular Youth Center hours. Have back up activities so a layperson can carry out planned activities in the case of staff absence. 3. Must be present at the Youth Center during hours of operation. 4. Promote and market information to the community regarding planned activities in a timely manner/ develop and disseminate a monthly activities calendar. 5. Recruit knowledgeable community/other agency members (preferably in-kind) to assist when staff lacks expertise of activity content. 6. Provide oversight/ collaborate or delegate youth sports groups i.e. softball, volleyball, basketball as per interest of youth working with local community volunteers and other staff to insure that these activities are carried out.

2 7. Provide oversight/ collaborate or delegate cultural activities i.e. arts and crafts, drum and dance, gathering, camping to enable and insure that these activities are carried out. 8. Assure that all necessary paperwork; (including but not limited to) permission slips, posters, requisitions with required back up for activities, and reports are completed and submitted or filed as required. 9. Prepare and complete reports as required by funding agency, or supervisor as directed. Work with all staff to complete required Family Services Reports and/or third party reports as directed. 10. Collaborated with tribal maintenance to secure cleanliness of youth center as necessary. (such as Pick up mats, insure that all balls and other sport or other youth center equipment is put away and properly stored to enable maintenance to do their jobs properly) 11. Work with other staff (or independently if needed) to keep supplies stocked at the Youth Center and maintain an accurate inventory list of family service equipment used primarily by youth and families such as canoes, camping gear and equipment etc Attend and participate in staff and other meetings, in-service, training and other events as directed by supervisor. 13. Work as a team member with other staff when needed with activities or other Youth Center or /division/tribal collaborative events. 14. Assist and participate in creating and gathering information from youth/community satisfaction of service's survey or needs assessments as directed. 15. Participate in the implementation of grants, contracts, projects and or being carried out under the Red Cliff Family Services division and at the direction of the Family Services Division Administrator. Present a professional, caring image for the Red Cliff Tribe, Family Services Division and the Youth Department. a. Maintain a cooperative relationship with other Family Service Staff and coworkers. b. Demonstrate tact, courtesy and respect when communicating and interacting with youth, staff, visitors, and outside agencies and programs. c. Promote a working environment noted for effective cooperation and collaboration between programs, services and co-workers. 16. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor. SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: This position is responsible for the supervision of Youth Center staff and the Youth Center. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE: 1. Candidate must possess a High School diploma or G.E.D. Some college in human service type program desired or successful experience working with tribal youth and families necessary. 2. Must have knowledge of the family systems in the Red Cliff Community,

3 3. Must possess knowledge of Red Cliff history and an understanding of the culture of our community. 4. Must possess knowledge of effective conflict management techniques and the skill to mediate conflict among youth/ parents/ and others as the situation may arise. 5. Must possess excellent verbal and written, inter and intra personal communication skills. 6. Must understand and accept the value of program evaluation as it relates to program effectiveness and program fundraising capabilities. 7. Must be able to drive the tribal youth 15 passenger vehicle. To transport youth to and from the center when necessary and on field trips as scheduled 8. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends. 9. Must be able to travel throughout the community, make home visits (when necessary), attend meetings and participate in program/community education programs. 10. Must be creative and have a positive outlook which shows through in your actions and personality. 11. Must demonstrate ability to relate with youth. 12. Personal commitment to a healthy lifestyle and serve as a role model in the tribal community. 13. Must have a valid driver s licenses, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage and maintain driver s eligibility as a condition of employment. Be eligible to be put on the tribe s vehicle insurance policy. 14. Prior supervisory experience desired. PERSONAL CONTACTS: Red Cliff Community youth, Family Service Staff, other community, tribal, county and state agency staff. Members of the Red Cliff Community. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position involve bending, stooping, lifting, carrying and items placed in overhead shelving. This position will also require physical participation in sports related youth activities. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Red Cliff Youth Center. Non-smoking building. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position will require some out of town over night travel to training and various youth events. The manner in which the employee relates to fellow employees, customers and visitors is considered parallel in importance to technical knowledge and ability. Respect and consideration given to the dignity of each customer, visitor and fellow employee is a requisite of successful job performance. Any Behavior or Attitude that tarnishes the Name or Image of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa will be subject to immediate disciplinary action up to and including termination.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PACKAGE The Employee Benefits Package includes the following: 1. A Health Insurance Plan which is through the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB). FEHB is offered for both single and family coverage. Employees considered to be full time status will be required to pay 12% of the premium for the plan selected.

5 2. The Dental package is through Delta Dental. This benefit is offered at no cost to the employees with single or family medical coverage. 3. Short Term Disability is offered to all employees at no cost and pays 60 % of weekly pay for a maximum of 90 days if you get sick or injured off the job. 4. Life insurance of $15,000 is included at no cost to all employees. Spouses are covered at $7, and children are prorated. Employees can purchase additional life insurance from the plan provider at their own cost. 5. Profit Sharing Plan with a 401(k) component is offered to employees after one year of work, with a minimum of 1000 hours. The Tribe puts 3% of employee s wages into the Profit Sharing Plan. 6. The Tribe also offers General Leave to Full time employees. Employees will accrue 16 hours of General Leave per month and can accumulate up to 192 hours per year. After 5 years of employment, General Leave goes up to 20 hours per month with a maximum of 240 hours. 7. The Tribe observes a total of 12 paid holidays.
