2 Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) LSSSDC is a not for profit organization, registered under the Societies Act, Initiated by CII and guided by NSDC, it s aim, over a 10 year period, will be to map all job roles in the Sector (estimated 100), enlist 339 Training Organizations, train over 39,000 Trainers and certify approx. 3.4 Million skilled workers in this Sector. About the concept- RPL RPL is an acronym for Recognition of Prior Learning. The term has been aptly coined to suit its objectives. The concept has been developed to recognize the skills gained through Informal and Non formal learning. Mostly, meant for those who have gained skills through experience during the job. The concept is set recognize skill gained through any medium. It shall not only encourage existing workforce but also open path for future growth, both for individual and Industry. It shall also help in up-skilling of existing workforce thus enhancing the quality of work in its wake. The skills are recognized through formal Assessment. Certificates are issued once candidate qualifies the Assessments. Scope This document throws light on the complete process of RPL tailor made for the job Role of Medical Sales representative in the Life Sciences Sector. It explains and guides the reader to know and avail benefits of the Programme. This document is not final and may undergo changes as and when required. It is not a legal document. 3 About Medical Sales Representative Job Role LSSSDC has developed a Nationally Standard document defining Job Role and its performance standards of a Medical Sales Representative. This document is also called Qualification Pack (QP). Qualification Pack (QP) lists and further elaborates on primary functions required to perform job of a MSR successfully. Each function is referred as National Occupational Standard (NOS). The document also has details of the knowledge and skills required to perform these activities / NOS. LFS/N0401 -Gather information about the product and competitors LFS/N Promote and sell products to potential customers and provide after sales service QP of MSR LFS/N Organize medical conferences and promotional events The document has been prepared in consultation and inputs from the industry. 4 A candidate must have sufficient knowledge and must be able to perform the activities (Performance Criteria) detailed out in all the above three NOS (i.e. Functions) to successfully qualify for the certification of Medical Sales Representative QP (i.e. Job Role) Objectives of RPL program This program provides opportunity for current MSRs to get their skills recognised and certified. This shall also help them climb the career ladder. To industry and individuals both it is an opportunity to identify skill gaps and subsequently hone them as per market need. This program is specially designed for the ease of working individual. Its online up-skilling platform allows individual to get up-skilled on the fingertips. Eligibility Education: Minimum: Any Graduate / Post Graduate / D Pharma Experience: Minimum: 6 months of experience as Medical Sales Representative. Process Flow The entire RPL process comprise of six stages:- Stage 1: Pre Screening and Enrolment: At this stage organization selects the employees from its sales force who would undergo the RPL Program. A minimum experience of 6 months is MUST to undergo the RPL Program. Stage 2: Orientation with RPL Program: It is important for each participating employee to understand the standards of performance set by National Occupational Standards and the entire process he/she would be undergoing as a beneficiary of this RPL Program This normally done by the HR SPOC of the Organisation The content for orientation would be provided by LSSSDC Stage 3: 1 st Assessment: Page 4

5 LSSSDC sets up the Assessment centre either at the premises of Organization or at an independent location LSSSDC conducts assessment In case candidate clears assessment of all the 3 NOSs, he/she gets Certified (Stage-6) Stage 4: Up-Skilling: In case candidate clears assessment of 1 or 2 NOS, he/she gets opportunity to up-skill him/ her self through Skilladder. Stage 5: 2 nd -Assessment Once candidate has completed the upskilling through Skilladder, he/she re-appears for the Assessment. The assessment methodology for 2 nd assessment is exactly the same as the 1 st assessment In case candidate clears assessment of all the 3 NOSs, he/she gets Certified Note: Thereafter on non-clearance of Assessment Candidate may take any number of Assessment on paid basis. Stage 6: Certification For participants who would be successfully qualifying the 1 st assessment, the certification would occur within 15 days immediate after the 1st assessment. Such participants would not be require to undergo a up-skilling. For participants who would not qualify the 1st assessment, they would be required to undergo up-skilling and 2 nd assessment The certification would occur within 15 days immediate after the 2 nd assessment, provided they are successfully qualifying the 2nd assessment. The certification is being issued by Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council. The certificate is recognized by Govt. of India and all the Life Sciences Industry bodies. Page 5

7 About Skilladder Introduction Skilladder is an Online Learning Application launched by Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council. Considering the busy working schedules of Medical Sales Representatives, the need of app based skilling system was deeply felt. Hence Skilladder is such designed that it can be accessed through both mobile and computer. Features Available on computer and mobile app (both ios and Android based mobile app). It allows anywhere, anytime learning. Skilladder contains entire content on QP (Job Role) of a Medical Sales Representative. This content is developed based on NOS facilitate structured and systematic reading. Crisp content supported with colour pictures and videos The content is based on in-built Unit Progression concept, i.e. only on finishing one unit, next unit can be accessed. Online forums Online assistance for Technical and subject related Queries. Inbuilt self assessment tools with on the spot feedback facility Benefits Organisations would be benefited with more confident, productive and efficient Sales Team, with higher strike rates, and significantly improved revenue generation per MSR and per call, through up-skilling; up-skilling without disrupting work. While Individual MSRs would be benefited with Improved earnings through commissions, greater recognition through certification, contributing to better career progression; learn and up-skill at your own pace & space. Terms of Use Login for candidates are generated and allotted by LSSSDC. The user login details are notified on user s registered id. Each candidate login is valid for three months from the date of notification mail. During this period a candidate has access to content of only those NOS(s), which he/she has not cleared in the Assessment. Candidate must ensure that he/she has successfully read/completed the entire content within the stipulated time frame of 3 months. Page 7

8 Every unit has inbuilt self-assessment quiz at the end for learning confirmation. The reader must qualify the quiz with 80% to be able to proceed to next Unit. LSSSDC ensures 99% of System availability during the period of validity. Cost First Registration Fee (exclusive of all applicable Taxes): 3000/- includes the cost of 1. 1st-Assessment 2. Up-Skilling via Skilladder (for 3 Months only) 3. 2 nd Assessment 4. 9 Terms and Conditions for participating Organizations / Individuals 1. Entire payment to be submitted along with Purchase Order (PO) 2. Mode of payment: Cheque / DD / RTGS. All payments to be made in favour of Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council Payable at New Delhi. 3. Organisation must ensure availability of candidates as per schedule. LSSSDC shall not be liable in case of any absence. 4. Nomination of the candidates need s to be provided by Organisation to LSSSDC in LSSSDC specified format. 5. For each nomination organisation shall be responsible for the correctness of candidates credentials such as Qualification, Date of Birth, Experience, Identity and id. 6. All nominations must fulfil the Eligibility criteria specified in this document. 7. Organisation shall maintain records of proof in hard copy and must be able to produce for all future audit purpose. 8. Assessment shall be scheduled on formation of Batch minimum 25 and maximum Candidate needs to submit a copy of Government issued Identity proof such as Voter Id Card, Driving License, Aadhaar Card, PAN card, Passport. They must also carry original for Verification. 10. Access to Skilladder shall be activated for a period of Six months 11. Assessments shall be conducted only in Tier I and Tier II 12. Cost: First Registration fee Rs 3000/- Each subsequent Skilladder Subscription Renewal: 1000/- Each subsequent attempt of Assessment: 1000/ All fees mentioned in this document are exclusive of all applicable Taxes. 14. Onetime registration shall include cost of two attempts of assessment and skilling via Skilladder for 6 Months only. 15. LSSSDC shall be responsible for managing and conducting the Assessments. 16. Assessment shall be conducted after minimum 15days of formation of minimum batch size. 17. The evaluation shall be aligned to the Assessment criteria defined as per the Qualification Pack of Medical Sales Representative LFS/Q0401 Version Organisation shall nominate a SPOC for entire project coordination with LSSSDC.
