7 APPRENTICESHIPS EXPLAINED... An apprenticeship combines employment with training. As an apprentice, you will work in a paid job within a company whilst also working towards a recognised national qualification. The average apprenticeship duration is between 1 and 2 years. Throughout this period you will spend 20% of your time in training (off and on job). At the end of your apprenticeship you would be assessed independently to determine that you have achieved the recognised industry standard. Over 98% of our apprentices who successfully complete their apprenticeship are retained by their employer. 6 6
