1 Communications Assistant Job Description and Personal Specification Line Manager Location Terms Salary Start Date Media Relations Manager Upper Maudlin Street, Bristol BS2 8DJ Full-time, 35 hours. Contract until December 2018 (with the potential to extend) Up to 17,000 p/a dependent on experience Immediate Summary of Role Wallace & Gromit s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children s Hospital Charity, is seeking a motivated and creative individual to support the Brand, Digital and Communications department at an exciting time. This is a temporary position within the charity, supporting media relations within the Brand, Digital and Communications department. The successful candidate will play a supporting role in press and social media for the forthcoming Gromit Unleashed 2 event, and will provide communications and marketing support for the Retail, Fundraising and Hospital Services Departments within The Grand Appeal. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and self-motivated individual, engaging with online communities across multiple brands including our three charity brands, and our retail and event brands, Gromit Unleashed and Shaun in the City. The successful candidate will have previous experience in communications, whether in paid work or as an intern, and will be expected to play a full and active role within the Brand, Digital and Communications department and across the organisation. The main focus of this role is to provide a high standard of support for a creative and busy team, and to support the execution of a wide range of PR and social media activities which enhance our brand, support our partnerships and help generate funds for the charity.

2 Key tasks and responsibilities The successful applicant for this role will provide comprehensive support for the Brand, Digital and Communications department across the six brands operated by The Grand Appeal. This will include working across PR, marketing, social media, and our websites, as well as supporting the department with copy-writing for internal and external communications. - Day-to-day management of social media accounts including; writing and scheduling content, collating imagery, and responding to online enquiries, posts and comments - Support the management of the charity s social media and marketing calendar - Work alongside the Media Relations Assistant to keep websites across all charity brands updated and relevant - Support the Media Relations Manager on all regional PR activity including press calls, visits and interviews - Assist media relations with copywriting across the charity s websites and brands - Work closely with the Media Relations Assistant to prepare copy for fundraising materials including newsletters, direct mailers, event guides and fundraising packs, as well as all other relevant marketing materials - Work with the Media Relations Assistant on the creation and distribution of e- communications across all brands for varying audiences - Assisting the Brand, Digital and Communications department on film projects and video content - Maintain daily coverage report and press clippings folder - Administration of: o image libraries o consent forms o file sharing services o fundraising database - Updating hospital and family accommodation poster sites - Any other role commensurate with the operation of the charity as required This role profile is not exhaustive and is subject to review in conjunction with the post holder and according to future changes/developments in the service.
