1 Impact Housing Association Ltd Role Profile JOB TITLE: Seasonal - Garden & Maintenance Worker (Temporary) SCALE: Impact s Living Wage per hour TEAM: The Oval Centre Gardens & Maintenance Team. REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor LOCATION: The Oval Centre, Salterbeck, Workington and contracted areas throughout Cumbria DATE: February 2018 Job Purpose To keep the environment on Salterbeck as attractive and safe as possible, through regular inspection and maintenance of the estate. To contribute to the future development of the Landscape Team and embrace future opportunities. To deliver a service that is aligned to the Customer is Key guidelines. To positively promote Impact and ensure the customer experience is at the heart of every point of contact. To carry out tasks outlined in the Salterbeck Gardening and Open Space Maintenance Contract, whilst working positively and closely with the N-Gage Teams and the community. To comply with all health and safety regulations, risk assessments & legal requirements. Valued Behaviours The key Valued Behaviours for all staff throughout the Association are attached separately. Key Responsibilities Salterbeck, Open Space Maintenance Contract & all other associated Contracts held by The Oval Centre. 1. To support the Maintenance Team to ensure all tasks outlined in the Salterbeck, Open Space Maintenance Contract and any other associated contracts held by the 1

2 Oval Centre, are carried out as outlined in the main areas of the contract as listed below: 2. To regularly inspect, keep clear and maintain fortnightly, all grassed areas, as outlined in the Salterbeck contract, unless otherwise specified in the contract. 3. To remove all graffiti and any defects reported on the day of identification. 4. As outlined in the Salterbeck contract, to spray rear lanes, connecting footpaths, garage sites, footpaths, banked areas and other identified areas. In between and after spraying, ensure weed growth is removed by strimming and all cuttings disposed of. 5. To keep all borders to paths, lanes etc, free of overgrowing plants and other obstructions. 6. To carry out general inspections and litter clearance of car parks, paths, grassed areas, rear lanes, garage sites, footpaths, banked areas, teen shelters and other areas to be carried out weekly or daily in some areas as outlined in the contract. 7. To carry out gritting of footpaths, car parks and steps outlined in the contract, when they present a slip risk and only under instruction of Impact. 8. To ensure perennial bushes and planting beds are kept free of litter, debris, broken glass, animal fouling. To fork and clear beds, re plant beds, prune bushes at appropriate times as required in the areas as outlined in the contract. 9. To inspect all areas, including borders at least once a week and to clear litter, debris, animal fouling, broken glass etc as required. 10. To carry out daily inspections and ensure all play areas and their surroundings are kept free of litter, broken glass, debris and any other foreign materials. Paintwork to be re-painted as required. 11. To ensure that the Football pitch is maintained as outlined in the contract. 12. To ensure that the Shore Road Reservoir is maintained as outlined in the contract. 13. To carry out additional works in winter months as outlined in the contract. 14. To maintain the gardens of pensioners and disabled persons, as well as individual gardens to be maintained in line with the contract. Other Maintenance Responsibilities outside of the Open Space Maintenance Contract: 15. To assist the Maintenance Team in carrying out small day to day repairs in the Oval Centre as agreed with the Manager. 2

3 16. To ensure the entrance to the Oval Centre and immediate areas are kept free from any debris and litter on a daily basis. 17. To support the Oval Teams with day to day tasks where appropriate and agreed with the manager. 18. To assist in the maintenance of all records of works covered in the Salterbeck Gardening and Open Space Contract. 19. To assist in keeping a full inventory of all equipment and machinery. 20. To assist in the implementation of risk assessments for all areas of works carried out and prior to work being carried out. 21. To assist in ensuring COSHH data is available and up to date for all products/ chemicals used, and to obtain material safety data sheets from suppliers. 22. To assist in actively promoting and publicising the Garden & Maintenance to ensure continuous development of the service. 23. To be proficient in the use of computers and I.T systems. General 24. To attend and actively participate in team meetings (where appropriate), line managements, appraisals, training and Impact mandatory events. To be an active and effective member of the team. 25. To take a full and positive role in training courses as and when required. 26. To undertake all duties in a manner that takes care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected. Following Impact Housing Association health & safety policy and risk assessments. 27. To co-operate with Impact so that Impact can fulfil its duties under health and safety legislation. 28. To be aware of all health and safety requirements that are relevant to your work and that are set out in Impact s Health and Safety policies and arrangements; in particular to co-operate with your manager by working in accordance with the relevant risk assessments and using the necessary control measures. 29.
