PURPOSE OF THE POST: Why the post exists and what It has to achieve To provide investigative support on the London Underground Area, covering the London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway. Investigate offences including evidence and intelligence gathering. Utilise designated powers to search, investigate and pursue enquiries. Assisting in bringing offenders to justice. C. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: What Ihejob is accountable for and required to deliver 1 Ensure the collection of all relevant documentation, information or data that is required by the investigation to form an overall picture of the circumstances including the preparation or upgrade of files to designated standards. Accurately gather information, working closely and communicating with all levels of the Force, other police forces and external organisations, analysing and interpreting data and identifying new evidence or intelligence in the enquiry. Ensure accurate Intelligence / FIS recording. Interview suspects (alone or with colleagues) including using inferences, ensuring at all times the correct treatment of the detained individual. Carry out interviews with witnesses and victims where appropriate and obtain their statements, ensure victims of crime are updated and apprised as per the Victims Charter. Liaising with the CCTV hub to ensure that CCTV evidence is properly collected, viewed and exhibited. Ensuring all evidence is properly stored and accounted for. Direct liaison with Home Office Forces & Agencies regarding requests for CCTV assistance with ongoing investigations or intelligence. Liaising with SOCO regards collecting exhibits and maintaining continuity of exhibits and returning property to owners at the conclusion of an investigation. '^ Liaising with CPS, where appropriate, to obtain charging decisions. Any other investigative task as directed by OIC commensurate with the responsibilities of a Civilian Investigator. Essential Criteria: Qualifications and Training: Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent. Experience: Proven reasoning and decision making skills Must be a willing and able team member with the ability to fit well into a pressurised, team-working environment Proven experience within a legal environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills including excellent report writing and keyboard skills Must pay attention to detail, be self-motivated and able to cope with sensitive, stressful/pressured situations and must be able to empathise with victim/witness of crime. Experience in prioritising, time management and working to targets Must be numerate and confident with IT packages Skills: Problem Solving Lateral and Critical Thinking Proactive and self initiating Flexible, confident and self motivated personality Knowledge: Good understanding of the Criminal Justice Process Ability to input and interrogate computer databases.
