2 - TLILIC108A - Licence to operate a forklift truck Instructions for assessors The purpose of this is to enable candidates to assess their skills and knowledge against the unit of competency requirements. The focuses on the requirements of the unit of competency identified in the Critical aspects for assessment and evidence in the Evidence Guide. To complete the candidates need to answer the questions by placing a in the box (Yes, No, Unsure) that best describes their current level of skills and knowledge. As candidates answer each question they are required to make a note of any evidence they have that could be used to verify their skills and experience. If candidates claim that they can perform a specific task/activity, then they need to provide evidence of this, for example, though log books, references and/or practical demonstration. Examples of evidence may include, but are not limited to: Job cards Testimonials from clients Work meeting records References Job descriptions Photographs, samples of work Records of formal and informal training that the candidate may have done on the job Discussing with an assessor work that the candidate has done and where the work was done A resume describing where the candidate has worked Demonstrating the task/activity to an assessor (either in the workplace or at a training facility) This assessment could be used as a first step in the RPL process, or for candidates who consider they are ready to be assessed following a program of training. Assessors should provide the Form for candidates to complete. When it is completed, assessors should discuss the candidate s responses and suggested evidence with them. The assessor is required to make a judgement about whether the candidate is ready for assessment.
