3 NCSL International NCSL International (NCSLI) is a nonprofit corporation comprised of people and organizations involved in Metrology, calibration and testing. SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT 3

4 NCSL International History Founded: in 1961 as the National Conference of Standards Laboratories (NCSL) The word International was added in 1999, as well as a new focus on testing issues SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT 4

6 The NCSLI Management Team The organization is managed by a board of directors (BOD) The leadership of the BOD consists of an Executive Committee made up of: President Executive Vice President Immediate Past President Secretary Treasurer The rest of the BOD is made up of eight Operational Vice Presidents and five regional Vice Presidents SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT 6

11 Grassroots NCSLI These are locally organized and run Between 40 and 50 of these meetings take place each year all over North America Japan, Europe and Mexico had local meetings during 2008 and 2009 Attendees come from industry, government, laboratories, universities and colleges SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT SINCE

12 Grassroots NCSLI Attendee numbers vary from 20 to 150 and more, depending on location, timing and content There is an NCSLI protocol on how these meetings are organized and training is provided to our volunteers SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT SINCE

19 Other NCSLI Activities The Conference is our main annual event But it s only a part of what NCSLI does There s an extensive committee infrastructure everything from surveys through standards writing and development of publications SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT SINCE

20 Publications There are currently 13 RPs and 4 RISPs available from NCSLI There are 5 more RPs in late development or approval stages (Calibration Intervals; Measurement Decision Risk Analysis; SPC Methods; Decision Support; Uncertainty Analysis) There are 2 more RPs which need a re-write (Laboratory Facilities & Laboratory Management) SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT SINCE

22 Learning and Development We list 36 available training sessions We list the details of NMI-led training for NIST, NRC- INMS and CENAM We support the ASQ-MQD Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) program We provide scholarships and achievement rewards SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT SINCE

34 Standards are developed and or adopted, such as Z540.1 and BUT, how does the collective body of the membership benefit? It is from NCSLI COMMITTEES that: Good practices guides are produced and shared amongst the membership. Metrology &Testing education and training requirements are determined. SERVING THE WORLD OF MEASUREMENT Industry specific groups solve problems only they face Utilities, Aviation, Biotech, etc. 34

35 What does being a member of NCSLI get you? Provides a place to post job openings to find those hard to reach measurement & testing professionals.
