1 Position Description POSITION: REPORTS TO: WAGE: LOCATION: STATUS: Maintenance and Visitor Services Crew Member - Foreshore and Holiday Parks Portarlington Holiday Park Manager/Northern Bellarine Foreshore Parks Manager $26.14 (inclusive of casual loading) plus appropriate penalty rates Portarlington Holiday Park/Northern Bellarine Foreshore Reserves Casual About Bellarine Bayside Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management (BBFCoM) is responsible to the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change for the management of 17 kilometres of Crown land foreshore reserves between Point Richards in Portarlington and Edwards Point in St Leonards. The Committee of Management, which is established under the Crown Land Reserves Act 1978, has recently adopted the following Mission Statement to guide its operations: Bellarine Bayside sustainably protects, restores and enhances the Northern Bellarine natural and built coastal environment, for the benefit and enjoyment of local communities, holidaymakers and visitors, now and into the future. The Holiday Parks Bellarine Bayside is financially self-sufficient, relying on revenue from the operation of 6 holiday parks and camping reserves at Portarlington, Indented Head and St. Leonards to provide funding for business operations and foreshore management. Parks management is coordinated through the Portarlington Holiday Park. Portarlington Holiday Park is one of the largest holiday parks in the southern Hemisphere comprising of 866 sites: 468 powered, 16 ensuite and 382 twelve month permit sites. There are also 20 self-contained cabins. Indented Head offers 3 separate camping reserves Taylor Reserve with 69 powered sites, Anderson Reserve with 49 powered sites and the largest, Batman Park with 129 powered sites. St Leonards offers 2 smaller camping reserves, Bengalat with 115 powered sites and the smallest park, Karrong with just 18 powered sites. More detail about Bellarine Bayside can be found at

2 Position Objectives To undertake programmed works as a member of the Portarlington Holiday Park maintenance and/or Northern Bellarine Foreshore crew, to effectively maintain and improve designated areas and surrounds amenity blocks and other visitor infrastructure to a high standard. To liaise effectively with campers to provide advice and assistance as required ensure there is compliance with the park rules. Key Responsibilities & Duties The Maintenance and Visitor Services Crew member will, under limited supervision and direction, perform Holiday Park functions and maintenance activities throughout Bellarine Bayside s holiday parks and camping reserves and the northern Bellarine foreshore. Duties will include but are not limited to: Perform general maintenance and cleaning duties within parks, reserves, foreshore, and Crown Land infrastructure. o General maintenance includes but is not limited to: ride-on mowing, painting, rubbish collection and disposal, gardening, cleaning of amenity blocks, minor electrical ( changing fuses, re-setting circuit breakers) and minor plumbing (pump and toilet blockages within capacity) minor carpentry and other skill. To interact and liaise effectively with campers and visitors to provide a range of advice and services and assist in the understanding of park rules and camping requirements. Effectively respond to holiday parks, camping reserves and public reserves urgent and emergency management and maintenance problems and complaints. Lawfully operate heavy plant, including but not limited to trucks, tractors agricultural machinery and other associated equipment. Ensure all vehicles and equipment used are kept in a safe working order, cleaned maintained and secured after use. Comply with any reasonable directions to ensure maintenance programs are conducted with due regard to Occupational Health and Safety Acts, regulations and guidelines. Liaise and provide reasonable assistance to staff, patrons, suppliers, contractors, government departments and other agencies as required. Undertake patrol and security duties in holiday parks and camping reserves as required. Provide initial and effective response to holiday parks, camping reserves and public reserves urgent and emergency management and maintenance problems and complaints. Proven ability to plan and implement tasks within an allocated timeframe. Ability to deal with difficult situations and present a positive Foreshore Committee image. Ability to work both as part of a team and individually. Ability to identify and resolve minor operational problems and issues. 4 KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Demonstrated experience in general maintenance and garden maintenance practices. 2. Ability to work in a self-directed manner and as part of a team, with good organisational skills. 3. Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to identify and resolve minor operational problems and issues. 4. Knowledge and experience of safe work practices and plant and equipment use. 5. Availability to work a seasonal roster involving weekends. 6. Current Manual Driver s Licence Desirable 1. Light Truck Licence. 2. Front end loader Certificate 3. Farm Chemical Users Certificate. 4. Chainsaw Certificate. 5.
