1 JOB DESCRPTON & CANDDATE SPECFCATON Post: Salary Range: Responsible to: Head of Teaching and Learning 40,000 Spot salary Deputy CEO Curriculum & Quality JOB PURPOSE The Head of Teaching and Learning is a key role in the College. The post holder will take a lead role in promoting excellent practice in teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) across the College. The post holder will provide a central lead to the Teaching and Learning Advocates and Lesson Observation procedure to maximise the benefit in improving teaching, learning and assessment. He/she will plan and co-ordinate the delivery of and assessing courses to commence in September MAN DUTES AND RESPONSBLTES To develop and promote a teaching and learning model which encourages and supports best practice. To develop a Teaching & Learning and Blended Learning strategies in collaboration cross College with the aim of achieving outstanding student outcomes. To lead and participate in the lesson observation process, working closely with curriculum managers to facilitate the production of action plans and deliver support programmes to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment of teaching staff. Lead on embedding English and maths across the College. Lead on promoting E&D in the curriculum. To lead on the EQR partnership scheme in the College and participate in other college reviews To manage the Teaching and Learning team to ensure that they are having the impact that is needed to improve TL&A. To plan and manage staff development activities, including the sharing of best practice, in response to identified need or external initiatives in order to promote effective TLA. To plan teaching staff induction and organisation of mentoring arrangements. To manage the L3 award in education and training and to develop the Level 4 Certificate and Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training course and other courses as relevant To plan and carry out, in conjunction with the Head of Quality internal quality reviews of curriculum areas. To contribute to the College SAR, writing TL&A reports for CLT and Governors and producing resources and materials to support TL&A as required.

2 To liaise with external organisations and attend professional development activities as required. To work closely with other managers in supporting the operation of College performance management and capability procedures. To undertake a teaching commitment. GENERAL DUTES To participate fully in appraisal according to the College requirements and undertake training and development likely to improve personal knowledge and skills as required. To propose any ideas that may help to promote and extend the College s reputation and efficient running of the College. To undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with College policies inclusive of Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Child and Vulnerable Adult protection, Quality and Financial regulations. To report any concerns to the appropriate person. To use appropriate management information to recognise and support diversity in the staff workforce and in the student cohort. To work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in the College Health and Safety Policy. To be available to assist in enrolment procedures. This may require additional hours including evenings and weekends, for example during the Autumn Term. To work flexibly. This will include occasional evenings and weekends, e.g. for parents evenings and open days. To undertake any other duties commensurate with your level of responsibility as may be required by the College Leadership Team. 4 CONDTONS OF SERVCE Annual leave entitlement is currently 46 days inclusive of 3 closure days (with planned closure days exceeding 3 to be taken from the 43 days entitlement). n addition, paid time off would be given in respect of Bank and Public holidays normally observed in England and Wales. The appointment will be subject to suitable references, medical clearance, enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications. All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of the employment. Confirmation of appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a twelve month probationary period. Teach four sessions a week. Other conditions of service are governed by local agreements and policies and procedures established by the College which may be changed from time to time following consultation with the recognised trade unions. This job description is subject to periodic review.
