1 Created by TheSchoolBus Marketing, Events & Communications Manager Job Description Employment details Job title: Reports to (job title): Hours of work: Level Marketing, Events & Communication Manager Chief Financial Officer 25 hours per week term time only Grade 7 23,111-26,470 pro rata Purpose of role Responsible for developing and implementing a marketing, communications and social media strategy to increase awareness of The Samara Trust Increase the number of prospective families making enquiries for their children to attend the academies Effectively promote the aims and ethos of The Samara Trust in a consistent manner Ensure effective targeting of resources through data analysis and evaluation of all activities, maximizing return on investment. Main duties/responsibilities Developing and managing effective, multi-channel marketing strategies Coordinating and delivering a diverse mix of integrated marketing campaigns. Managing external resources where required to ensure successful delivery of creative campaigns. Adapting marketing strategies to fit relevant channels. Optimising the Trust s presence on social media, actively managing the accounts Using search engine optimisation (SEO) to the Trust s advantage. Tracking the success of the use of social media and SEO. Ensuring that both internal and external parties use the brand and voice of the Trust appropriately. Adopting the Trust s voice and styles appropriately for digital/print outputs and various audiences. Producing publications to promote the status of the Trust, such as short films. Managing and updating the Trust s website on a day-to-day basis. Uploading and commissioning content from various departments. Planning, running and overseeing events.

2 Ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. Forming strong relationships with relevant and reliable members of the press. Developing and driving forward the Trust s press work. Managing and developing an up-to-date press database. Building and managing the Trust s mailing lists. Managing the marketing budget, ensuring maximum return on investment Meeting annually set targets concerning the Trust s marketing, and the financial implementations. Tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of the marketing strategies such as parent/pupil questionnaires, prospective enquiries and feeders schools of current pupils Co-ordinating collection of wider market intelligence and advice on how changes made in the Trust may impact on the external environment Co-ordinating the collection of wider market intelligence across the sector and target customer base to establish changing preferences and perceptions Keeping abreast of developments across the academy sector at national as well as local level, with a particular close monitoring and reporting of competitor activity. Involving and keeping up-to-date the Local Governing Boards, Board of Trustees and Members in regards to all events. Preparing regular reports and updates as required, both verbal and written. Administration Ensuring compliant with all policies and procedures, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person. Ensuring that up-to-date marketing and press folders are kept. Managing an image archive, engaging freelance photographers when appropriate. Organising the photo library of Trust s activities. Producing termly marketing and communications reports for the Board of Trustees Staff development Supporting the Trust s commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare at a level appropriate to this role Building excellent rapport with all departments within the Trust. Ensuring all departments deliver key messages in-line with the Trust s brand, strategy and mission. Participating in training, and undertaking any performance development as required Attending and participating in meetings and forums as required, both internally and externally Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer on a monthly basis. Liaising with the Board of Trustees regarding their marketing needs. Additional duties Being aware of and responding to the changing needs of the Trust and maintaining a flexible and pro active approach to work Working closely with external consultants. Forging relationships with relevant marketing contacts.

3 Networking at appropriate events and following up any leads. Providing creative input and development to a wide range of projects across the Trust. Conducting a high standard of copywriting in line with quality assurance procedures.

4 Person specification Qualifications and training Essential Educated to A level or above, including a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) grade C in maths and English. Degree level or equivalent. Marketing qualification level 3 or above. OR an equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of education, training and/or experience. Desirable Higher degree. A degree in marketing or business. Finance course completion. Experience The successful candidate will have experience of: At least two years in a marketing executive role. A communications based role, such as journalism. Using a broad range of media, including print, digital and social media. Copywriting professionally to a high standard. Content management systems, particularly for online communication platforms. Using SEO effectively with proven results. Delegating budgets fairly and successfully. Experience working within the education sector. Contacts and experience working with the press within the education sector. Knowledge and skills The successful candidate will have: An in-depth knowledge and understanding of academy structure. An understanding of academy quality procedures. The ability to use a broad range of media across a variety of platforms. Excellent social media awareness and the ability to use all major social networking platforms. The ability to use relevant design and computer programs to a high standard. The ability to interpret research and analyse marketing trends. A wide knowledge of educational terminology. The ability to build and develop appropriate relationships between the school and parents, as well as between other staff members. A proven track record of meeting targets and budget management. The ability to network and present ideas. Knowledge of relevant statutory policies and safeguarding protocols. An in-depth understanding of the financial structure of an academy. Ability to use digital design programs to a high standard, such as Photoshop, InDesign and Premier Pro.
